You get a lot of misinformation on this subject.

Cortez let Hatton hug and hit plenty. About average for a pro fight.

Hatton was only complaining as Mayweather was dominating him inside, and he was having no success there

 

You're right actually. I've been saying the same thing since I started hearing how Cortez would ruin this fight.

The only REALLY questionable things I've seen from Cortez was his DQ of Humberto Soto against Fransisco Lorenzo versus a point deduction for Gamboa against Salido for the same foul but more blatant.

Some refs will let fighters hold and hug but Cortez breaks it up right away. Whether or not thats good is really a matter of taste that many fans seem to not enjoy. Holding is against the rules, its one of the most basic rules in boxing.
