Sorry for the late post, and maybe this was already discussed, but I' just watching Lattimore-Nunez now.

    WTF?

Can someone explain to me Joe Cortez's decision to break them up at the end of round 9 and give Lattimore an 8-count?

They weren't really in a clinch, Lattimore was clearly on his way to the canvas, trying to hang onto Nunez so he would't go down, and Nunez was still throwing. Nunez would have landed 1-2 more hard shots, and Lattimore would never have gotten up. Heck, he could have just backed up and Lattimore would have been down for a while.

Granted, Lattimore deserved the win, but something looks mighty fishy to me.

Is Joe driving a new Mercedes?

I saw the fight, everything in bold is a stretch. you cant be certain about that.

secondly, werent the ropes keeping latimore from falling to the canvas? that's a standing 8

No, he hit the ropes then came off, and was grabbing for Nunez. When Cortez pulled Nunez back, Lattimore hit the canvas. It couldn't have been any more clear.

What then came out of the commentators mouths was even stranger than Cortez' actions.

    Well, that's boxing for you.
