The reason he did it is because he's a **** ref, that has been proven more than once this past 18 months.

 

He broke the clinches in BOTH fights. I don't see what the problem is. He did get a little bit carried away with it in the Hatton fight. He sometimes broke clinches before they even happened but took a lot of stick for it and rightly stopped doing it in later fights.

I was much more shocked at his performance in the Humberto Soto fight recently.

Cotez was inconsitent but it was floyds talent that won the fight, and their is no shame losing to a bloke like floyd.

 

Cortez and Hopkins used to have beef. I remember Hopkins complain about him a couple of times.

 

Its a pity he didnt let Mayweather and Hatton at it more on the inside because Mayweather was handing Hatton his arse on the inside...he really beat Hatton in the clinch and at his own game

Masterfull performance in dismalating Hatton in a way which nobody predicted

 

im not sayin this is true or that i agree but its just a theory maybe he listens to the boxing public too much and he thought cuz people say hatton holds to much he though he could be a hero and then stop him holding then in the jc n bhop fight he may have listened too much again an tried to have less an influence

I know, but Mayweather and Hatton went at it on the inside and it when Cortez let it happen Mayweather roughed Hatton up

 

Because Hatton was known for rough house, borderline dirty, wrestling for his entire career while Hopkins wasn't. So it was easy for Cortez to go into a Hatton fight ready to break the fighters almost immediately.
