Refs must always be paying attention to what the fighters are doing. Cortez sucks. I would have preferred Bayless to ref that fight.

 

I made this point on the general board. Why the **** does a refferee have a catchphrase like some celebrity? he is there to officiate and should not be noticed and try to be part of the entertainment. He is a complete and utter ****ing arsehole. Incompetent up his own arse wanker I wish he'd **** off and retire.

 

Cortez tries to involve himself in fights; his ego is massive which is why he has a **** catchphrase. Benny Ricardo made a good point in the Morales fight when he said we hadn't seen Kenny Bayless because he had let the fight flow.The way they televised Cortez giving instructions in the dressing rooms wearing his customised bomber jacket convinced me even more the guy is a twat.

He has ran his course and shouldn't be reffing championship bouts anymore.

 

The thing is, Ortiz could have been seriously hurt last night. He took 2 big punches that he didn't see coming. Cortez is a ****ing joke.

 

Terrible in the Maidana vs Khan fight, even worse last night plus there's been many many more in the last few years. Needs to retire now.

ill be honest i dont like cortez he is a fussy ****, but to his credit prior to the headbutt and the k.o he was letting the fight flow nicely imo.

What was worse was Lorenzo lying bleeding on the canvas like a stuck pig for what seemed about 10 mins while this senile old ****er had a confab with the officials.

I have had a major grudge against this guy ever since that fight, more so than I ever felt with the Hatton/Mayweather fight.

 

Hate the way he slaps fighters rather than break them properly. I'd chin the ****ing **** for that alone.
He's senile and a health risk to the boxers. Really went up his own arse when he "reffed" the fight in the rocky film. I despise the man.

At the end of the day though, Cortez tells the fighters to 'protect themselves at all times' Ortiz doesnt do it, & Floyd jnr punishes him accordingly. Floys promised to 'son' him, & he did, used his experience to pull out the win.

I predicted that Floyd jnr was taking a step too far taking on a massively bigger younger specimen who had world class power, & what does Floyd do? put on a masterclass. This guy is so genius that he rips up all the rules & can be inactive & look better as he gets older!

Scurla said Floyd jnr was one of the best, I disagree. IMO, Floyd is the greatest of all time.... IF he beats the modern day monster that is Pacman. Its the ultimate fight of my lifetime, & Im nearly 40. No spring chicken anymore!!!
