Joe Cortez

He's taking back handers, that much is obvious (based on his career overall). Joe 'Corrupt' Cortez is a disgrace to boxing.

Im suprised he aint been lamped yet. The guy is clearly corrupt.
i dont think he is the full shilling, either that or he is a coke head.

Joe Cortez needs to GTFO of boxing. If he had controlled the fight properly and payed attention to what was going on, it wouldn't of ended like it did.

Its moments like these that put me off boxing, almost to the point that I don't even want to go training myself.

There's nothing worse than a cheap shot to make you feel sick to the stomach and Floyd's was the cheapest of them all.

 

As bad as he was, I don't believe the fight would have ended differently if Cortez was paying attention. He said to the boxers "Let's go" and Ortiz decided to carry on chinwagging (despite already hugging Floyd and kissing him).

Floyd carried on boxing and Cortez missed the KO. Cortez is obviously not fit to ref any more, but it's wasn't his fault Ortiz got knocked out.

 

Normally after pleasantries the ref would pull them apart and put some space between them.

Also, Ortiz clearly wasn't aware they should be fighting and that's the ref's fault for not being clear in his actions or looking towards the boxers.

 

He ****ed up AGAIN. Cortez as a man strikes me as a nice guy but his refereeing is questionable. He just loses control of a situation.

"I'm not fair and I'm not firm"

 

I agree that Cortez lost control of the situation, but all three of them were in the centre of the ring, Cortez faced them both and clearly said "Let's go".

Ortiz had just blatantly and quite deliberately headbutted Floyd, and must have known he would have been looking for some kind of retribution. If he wanted to make some kiond of gesture he could have simply extended an arm, or do a little bow, or whatever.
It's not the ref's job to determine at what point full hostilities are to be resumed.

Anyway, Ortiz never seemed to be too bothered about it. In fact as soon as he had headbutted Floyd, he turned weird. Hugging, kissing, grinning, If I didn't know better I would say it looked like he had popped an "E" prior to the fight and it just kicked in all of a sudden. I have never seen a fighter so happy to have been beaten in such a bad way.

 

Cortez totally ruined the fight for me! A referee has the task of maintaining order along with fairness in any sport whether that be Football,Boxing,Rugby.. Cortez failed to do his job.

Ortiz on the other hand has been boxing long enough to keep his guard up, simple boxing fundamentals taught from your first day in any Boxing Gym.

He should never be allowed to officiate in the ring again.

 

Cortez is well past his "due date" and lives off his once proud reputation.He has lost his skill.Retire please.

 

I look forward to a fight reffed by Cortez in much the same way as I do an awards acceptance speech by Kate Winslet or a lecture by Bono.

 

Cortez has been on the slide for a few years now & it seems to me that he struggles to keep up with the pace of fight nowadays & he needs to retire from refereeing now as its only a matter of time before someone gets seriously hurt as a result of his actions!:roll:

He should change his catchphrase to "I'm infirm & unfair!"

 

If kenny Bayless was in charge, this farce would of never taken place. Kenny knows whole to control the fight, Joe however is past his sell by date.

 

Exactly...... He's only the ****ing ref, not some A list celeb. When do you ever talk about a football referee, when he's had a bad game.

Do your job instead of trying to build up your celebrity. I never saw the customised bomber jacket :-( I'll bet the ****'s got photo cards that he autographs for his "fans" atsch
