Joe only seemed weak in comparison to Foreman, who had major advantages in height and reach as well. Old Foreman shoved around Qawi with similar ease if not greater ease, but wasn't as aggressive with Ike as he was with Joe twice. Again, Jumbo Cummings was a hard core bodybuilder who failed to bring his size and physical strength effectively to bear against Smoke at the end of 1981. (Ask Frank Bruno if Cummings could punch.) Dwight was not ever remotely in the class of Liston, Mac Foster, Lyle, Shavers, or even Norton in the area of punching power. At 222, he was fat, period, promptly returned to the cruiserweight ranks (which would have hardly been possible if his increase from 190 pounds to 222 was lean body mass), and never defeated any quality opponent while weighing more than 200 pounds. For Joe, getting hit by Ike would be more like getting hit by Bob Foster, not Mac.
