Man, this phrase, even tongue-in-cheek, just gets my dander up.

Anyone capable of thinking it, let alone posting it about Joe Frazier, simply knows NOTHING about boxing.

old liston was fighting nobodys in sweden then lost to the next rated guy he fought in leotis after Ali. Im not saying old Liston was a bad heavyweight but I am saying old Liston's resume post Ali isnt worth anything. Frazier legitimatly climbed the ratings, won a title then beat an unbeaten Ali.

Jayne, you ignorant slut,,,,,,,,Frazier stops Quarry twice who ko'd Shavers in 1 and totally took out Foster while outboxing and winning handlily over Lyle. And Joe took the biggest shots Jerry had, shots that took out Earnie and Mac while barely flinching. I can't wait for this guys next enlightened post.

Not true, Henry Clark was in the Rings top ten and on a winning streak when the post Ali Liston took him out. Sonny didn't have alot of air left in his old tires but he put it together in this bout before a noticed decline with age afterwards. Leotis was a legit top ten and Sonny had enough left to be on his way to a ten round decision when he was caught big time. Interesting to me is how a prime Sonny took as big of shots from Cleveland Williams and just came back pounding, that Liston would have been a match up for any great heavy.

The Foster fight wasn't an easy one for Jerry by any stretch of the imagination.

Frazier fought the tough guys of the era and the winners, Quarry,Bonavena,Ellis,Ali, then Foreman...Frazier was not a ducker...Quarry KO'd Mac Foster, Dominated Lyle and Shavers...Frazier fought Quarry 2 times and won....Props to Smokin Joe

According to sources, the Frazier camp not only avoided but turned down the match-up. Wrong styles. Though, I agree it was a high risk/low reward set up for a rising contender.

I was thinking the same thing.

I like how this guy doesn't think of Quarry as a big puncher even though he flattened two guys on his list.

Surely, flattening a big puncher does not automatically make you one yourself ?
I would rate Foster, Lyle ,and Shavers significantly above Quarry for power.

I have said this for years. The only big puncher Frazier fought was Foreman. There were no matches with Mac Foster, Sonny Liston, Ernie Shavers, or Ron Lyle. Solid punchers like Kenny Norton, and Leotis Martin do not appear on Frazier resume either.

The best puncher Frazier beat was likely Bonevena. Bonevena nearly KO'd him, flooring him twice in a 10 round fight. If you score the fight under the modern 10 point must system, I view it as a draw.

you say Joe had a suspect chin and that's why he ducked shavers ?? i think joe's chin was at least way better then ernie's....
i don't know if he ducked them or not. but i believe frazier is a guy who is afraid of no-one. maybe a little to brave for his own good

No, no, it does. If you then eat that person and absorb their soul, that is. I think. I don't know, I'm not religious. We should look this up.
