I think the raw, natural power that heavyweights such as Foreman, Shavers and Frazier possessed was unique and something uncommon in this generation. That would be Wlad and Vitali's biggest problem.

It's a tough one to call, I fancy Frazier over Wlad but think Vitali would beat Frazier by decision.

I think Wlad's defensive flaws and inability to fight off the back foot will become a problem against Frazier. He relies a lot on having his opponents on the back end of his jab, once you're past the jab, Wlad's defense is pretty basic and can be exploited. I actually think that Wlad's best chance would be to try and blow Frazier out early, Frazier is a slow starter and Wlad should take advantage of that, I don't know if he would do it though.
    Tough matchup for Wladimir.

Vitali on the other hand is capable of fighting off his back foot and has a very good lean-back defense that gives him a lot of counter opportunities. Vitali doesn't have big time power, but I do believe that he has enough to hurt Frazier.
I like Vitali here, he has the defense and ring intelligence to beat Frazier imo.

    This.

I remember on Ringside where his contributions where "Well Louis was basically a cruiser-weight. He'd be a cruiserweight nowadays." :patsch

Wlads right hand is harder than anything foreman ever threw

But that's all he throws in his current cautious mode of fighting though. It's easy for any elite heavyweight to counter that when it's literally the only thing in his arsenal..

Now if he displays his full offensive arsenal his extremely shaky chin gets exposed.. Wlad honestly do have flaws that people are being blinded to because he knocked out 40 year old Grandpa Thompson and ATG Maruiz Wach (no wait he didn't)

  8. There is no real way to measure it, but I think you are flat out wrong.

Once upon a time when i first started watching boxing i stupidly believed that a 245lb 6"6 Wladimir would have an easy time with 205lb 5"11 Frazier, having looked in a fair bit more detail it clear that Joe would have caused Wladimir so many problems. For a start Joe being destroyed by Foreman holds no bearing on what would happen in this bout, Wlad and George carry completely different mentalities within that ring, one didnt give a **** about taking a punch to give one and threw hard hooks to body and head which Joe found impossible to deal with, the other fighter throws almost exclusively straight punches with constant movement to avoid taking incoming punches in return. Joe being able to box on the front foot and hunt Wladimir automatically puts him in a greater position than he was against Foreman where he was met head on, the fact Wladimir throws straighter punches means Joe can avoid incoming punches far easier, Joe can also get really low and take advantage of the size differential and the lack of body work and uppercuts in his work by getting low and exploding out of the crouch. The referee would need to be very strong and stop Wladimir spoiling everytime Joe gets close (see Haye fight) otherwise it would be a long boring fight for Joe and the fans. If that left hook land in which it will, i would bet on Wlad either going down for the count or having a panic attack and being stopped shortly afterwards.

Vitali is a completely different story, as tough as nails and wouldnt be so accommodating with Joe, id say Vitali TKO11.

That right there is a 5 second gif of one of Frazier's better moments against Ali. Why don't you show the million jabs that Ali did land on Frazier? You realize that Vlad's jab is much harder than Ali's? Vlad's jab will put Frazier on ***** street. Frazier got dropped by 200 lb Bonavena, how do you think he's going to take Vlad's right hand or left hook?

when ever i think of a fighter who wreak havoc on today's heavyweight it is smokin joe. I see getting on the inside of both of the bros and beating them into submission. Joe knew how to fight like the smaller man . . . something none of these bums today know how to do. I think the consenses is that He KOs Wlad and wins a decision against vittles . . . and i agree

Wlad's jab may be a bit stiffer since he throws it more flat footed but it is certainly not as cutting, not as quick, and probably not as accurate. Wlad has never faced as elusive as target as Frazier. Haye throws himself off balance with his head movement and still was able to avoid a great deal of Wlad's blows. Wlad's nature is to feint with his jab to create openings and maintain range. He won't be able to control Frazier with that kind of jab.

The way Ali had real success in their second fight was by going back to his dancing style, something Wlad would never do. He takes deliberate side steps and isn't nearly as quick on his feet. In the third fight, Ali had success by pushing Frazier back with his own power punches and using his strength to avoid an inside fight. Wlad is not as physical.

Bonavena was a big puncher who's stature was not that of such a long, tall fighter like Wlad. He was in much better position to catch Joe at mid-range than Wlad would be. Wlad would be aiming low, which is exactly what Frazier wants, and Frazier would time his shots over the top. Eventually he's going to catch Wlad. And unlike Bonavena, Wlad's character is not that of a puncher willing to throw with his opponents frequently. Frazier will provide high-energy pressure, and I doubt he'd be the first one to slip up and catch a fight-ending bomb.

I like Wlad and it's not an impossible fight for him, but I don't see him controlling Frazier. And if he can't control him, he can't evade him, and if he can't evade him, he can't win.

Quarry was a 200 pound runt just like Frazier and no way was he more "versatile and capable" than guys like Byrd, Chagaev, Haye, etc.

I thought that fight was close even with the knockdown. It was so close, they could have given it to Ali. Frazier never beat Ali in style, Norton did but not Frazier. Also, Ali was a large man compared to Frazier, but not to Vlad. You can gargle Ali's nuts all you want, it doesn't change the fact that Vlad hits much harder than Ali.

Give Foreman another round or two and he'd put Frazier's lights out and shave more years off his life. Look at how easily Foreman shoves Frazier around like a rag doll. What's to prevent Vlad from simply shoving Frazier away with his jab hand when he gets close?

The only one of those that went the distance was Haye, and Haye is an outside fighter, completely different from Frazier. If you're 205 pounds and you're getting hit by Vlad, you're getting knocked the **** out, and Frazier would get hit.

I pick Liston over Foreman, Liston's not more current. Frazier might be a stylistic nightmare for Vlad if he was more two-handed and had the athleticism of a Tyson, but he didn't. When Vlad hits him, Frazier is not going to be able to take it. Also, Frazier only has one gear and his survival skills are poor at best. Once Vlad hurts him, that's it.

You try to talk about styles but the truth is that you don't have a clue about styles, that's why you picked Cloud over Hopkins by decision. :patsch

I think just on size the Klitchkos are too big for Frazier. Frazier couldn't get close or move the Klitchkos around at all.
