Sanders and Brewster were about 10lbs heavier than prime Frazier. I think the enormous gap in talent, is more important than those 10lbs. The Klitschko's are taller but Wlad's jab wouldn't be so effective against Frazier's crouching stance and Vitali doesn't know how to use his height to control opposition. Against a body puncher, and Frazier was the best heavyweight body puncher ever, Vitali would take plenty of punishment there.
Yeah he would. If he has all the supplements and nutrition that the modern fighters do then Frazier would certainly be a good 220
Styles make fights. Theres not much point in comparing Ali's performances with Foreman Frazier et al. They were all different fighters. That said Foreman himself was a simple cum forward slugger with awesome power in each punch. Foreman never threw no punches in bunches. He was never known for putting them together well. He was though a unique heavy in that he was a massive 220lbs at just 19 years of age. George would just wail away on his opponents and this is why Ali schooled him. Every on of his punches were wide and predictable. Frazier lost to him badly because Frazier defensively was poor. He was one of those old school philly fighters who didn't mind taking a few in order to get off. Against a guy like Foreman that was clearly not going to work for a guy like Frazier who fought only one way. Either of the Klit brothers would beat Frazier comfortably and well inside the distance.
If Frazier had a taller father may be he'd of been taller than 5ft 11. Pretty pointless argument in my eyes. You can only debate the merits of Frazier based on what he "was". Not what he "might" be whilst making a bunch of assumptions.
Yea he did. When Ali was doing the rope a dope in the Rumble in the Jungle that is just one example where Foreman is landing bomb after bomb. Wlad is the bigger puncher and seemingly has the better defense tha Vitali, but if a slow fighter like Peter got to Wlad in their first fight when Peter was at his best, Frazier is definitely getting in there. There is the case I think Vitali Klit-Frazier is a pickem, but Wlad's questionable stamina and chin would be weaknesses vs Frazier who can go 15rnds and alot of heart. Neither Klit would win comfortably against Frazier. Frazier basically lost to 2 of the greatest HW champions of all time while the Klits lost to journeyman in Purity, a retired HW golfer in Sanders, a blownup MW where Vitali all had to do was standup for the last remaining rounds, but chose not to do so vs. Byrd, and a past his prime fat HW legend in Lewis. :bart Give it up my brother. It's not favoring the oldies, but it's just laughable to compare. You have Usaiin Bolt considered the fastest man today, yet in the 60-70's you had Bob Hayes running an even faster time. You think size or modern technology had anything to do with that?
Not a pointless argument. If Frazier lived in his prime in the 2000s, he would certainly be using weights and nutrition like wlad and vitali do. how do you think they are so muscular and strong? They both use weights whereas Frazier didn't. The argument could work with any athlete back then. And we ARE making assumptions, because the two of them will never fight Frazier anyway :good So I can see the 71' version of Frazier working the body, beating up both Vitali and Wladimir, especially wlad since he's got a weak chin and no inside fighting. Vitali at least has that arm punching uppercut. But he too would get stopped. Plus, add 10-20 pounds of muscle on Frazier he's going to do even better.
Your assumptions show limitation. Lennox was around 6 months removed from his prime versus Rahman, Tyson was 15 years removed. It still took Lennox 8 rounds to do the job. Prime for Prime, for me both win 5 each. Legacy, Lewis has the better resume, Tyson youngest heavy ever.
Frazier had a style that served him really well against opponents of his own size. If Foreman could literally push Frazier around during the fight you can image what would Vitali do to him being 4 inches taller and 30lb heavier than Foreman. As tough as Frazier was I doubt that he would last long in that fight.
