Ah, because Tyson also knew he was in terrible shape and Buster getting up means the fight continues...which means...Tyson continues to get his ass beat like he was throughout the fight.

You act like that is the only time Mike knocked someone down and had them get up. Look over his career again. They got up and went back down. But that was when Tyson was a properly trained fighter.

Frazier also comes right at you and is closer to Tyson's size. Douglas, close to 6'4, 230, long reach, and Agile...is a harder target...especially when you are not in the best shape to make up the distance.

One weapon that Tyson could now use more than ever because Frazier is the same height....the JAB. Very underrated weapon of his during that time. Fast, Sharp, Hard, and could triple it up. Tall Fighters, which were most of his opponents, like 6'5 Tucker, were harder to hit although he still was landing that Jab even on him.

Bobbing and Weaving: Right into an uppercut

Huh really ? According to his biography the cateracts were certainly getting bad by the time of even the second Ali fight but early on his vision ( if not perfect ) was certainly good enought to be able to see fine

You do wonder how much of Joe's memory is eroded and how much is him listening to his own legend, part of the sadness of him is the state he is in now.

A legend and no mistake however

(p.s if you havent read the book I reaaaally recomended it ! )

I have it on the checkout in Amazon, waiting to get paid before I purchase it. A true legend and a true warrior.

Meh I think Marciano finds a way to stop Tyson(possibly lol). Say what you want but the guy had heart and relentless pressure. In no way do I see it as an easy victory for Tyson.

    How do you figure?

He was known to have more trouble with Tall/Big Fighters. Guys that had both Height and Weight {220+}.
He got more comfortable with Tall/Big fighters because he had to because of the era he was in. That's why he was put in with seasoned Pro Tall/Big fighters even as an amateur/teen...in order to get used to it. He had no choice.

Fighters closer to his size he could actually use his Jab a lot more, use more combos, and match up with strength.

Did you ever see his fight with his son, Marvis Frazier?

To be fair, most people tend to remember a different story as the years go on. A big reason why journal writing, as soon as it happens, is good to help keep the story straight. And also to remember how your mind-set really was at that point.

And with age especially, the mind-set change. Sometimes the ego can become inflated, sometimes it can become deflated and you become more humble...almost forgetting what you were like when you were young, full of testosterone and confidence.

    SAD....

I believe in his auto he was talking about deteriorating vision too, from cataracts. It couldn't have been as bad the entire time. He said he actually, insanely went into the second Foreman fight with contacts, and had tried to keep his vision problems secret for a long time. I believe he had surgery in 1975, having as you stated had the problem for a long time.

in the Manilla documentary he was specifically asked how long he had been fighting with one eye.

    "64-65" he replied

"So how did you manage to win all those fights with just one eye"

"They didn't last that long" he replied.

tyson didn't have the mental strength to beat a frazier type of boxer even though tyson technically was better.

marciano-frazier would of been a war.
