But he was still used to facing Tall/Big fighters. Marvis had no choice against Tyson and wasnt even good. Why'd you even bring him up lol? I agree he could use his jab more but Frazier was an expert at getting under the jabs but then again, they both were about the same size so Tyson's jabs would be more effective still that doesnt guarantee a fantasy matchup Tyson victory in the Tysn/Frazier fight. Good speaking with you:good.

Because Tyson's arsenal is easier to display against fighters close to his height. Tyson started to pop that Jab right away just to get it in the face of Frazier and make him dip down right into the uppercut.

Tyson's hooks would also be easier to land I would say even if some miss. He doesn't have to reach up.

Also of note is that Tyson said his best hand was his right-hand but wasn't always able to land it like he wanted to. My guess, because he wasn't tall, had a small reach and had to face Tall Men. Take that height away and you have your right-hand back in play. Plus, he also said his most lethal shot he liked was actually to the body.
There was a powerful right hand to the body against Big Fat Tubbs that made a booming sound.
Body shots would be easier as well I would say.

But Tyson really didn't face many fighters his height. Marvis was one of the few. Not sure who would be next, maybe Mathis but that was post-prison. Jesse Ferguson was taller than 6'0 but I don't know how much more. That was a great fight from a young-pre-title Tyson. Full arsenal on display.

    You too
    :cheers

Anyone watch Frazier signing on the My Way link in the article?

I think people must have been too scared to tell him he couldn't sing! lol

Styles make fights, not grins. Tyson was superior to Frazier is just about every category. Bigger, faster, stronger, more powerful, better defense. I don't see how smoking Joe would have a prayer in that fight. More than likely it would be a repeat of what happened to him with Foreman.

I heard Tyson himself say that his fav combo was a hook to the body followed by an uppercut upstairs. I think he said with his left hand but I forgot where I heard him say it. Big Tyson fan here lol I've seen like 5-6 of his docs and watched just about all of his fights. I agree that his jab was underated and he used it well especially for a fighter his size. As soon as he left Rooney it seems like he never used it effectively again....

Tyson TKO3. Stronger, faster, hits harder, bigger. Frazier would be perfect for Tyson.

Tyson destroys Fraizer. Faster, hits harder, power in both hands, better chin, better defense.

:patsch Peak Tyson, not Post Prison Tyson. Post Prison Tyson was a complete mess mentally as well as physically he was off course with training. Not to mention he was a drug-addict who lacked discipline post-prison and didn't want to box but had to in order to pay off bills.

Even before he met Holyfield, he fought Mathis who was right around his height, he took him out. But if you notice in that fight, he was wild and his timing was off. His balance wasn't even there compared to where it used to be. He was never the same again.

He sparred fighters his size as well and handled them well. He had no choice but to train for bigger guys because that is who he would face.

Look at Patterson for example. Closest to Tyson in terms of style. That style was meant for fighting fighters closer to his size. You can fight inside. You can use your jab. You can use more combos. The body and head are much closer in distance for you to hit.

It's not meant for Tall fighters. Dempsey and Tyson had to up the pace of how they fought, going all out for the first few rounds in order to try to take out the Bigger Fighters and if they couldn't, at least wear them down both mentally and physically so it would be easier for them to "box" the rest of the fight. Dempsey even said, he was fighting for his life against Willard. If you try to box them early and throughout, they have a better chance to get the better of you. Tire you out quicker. You need to drain them early.

Jesse Ferguson was around Holyfield's height and weight by the way. Not as good as Holyfield but you can see why the height and weight of someone around that size is a little easier to get to.

And these weren't the Tall Big Men Dempsey fought either who weren't athletic.

Tucker was 6'5, 220, long reach, knew how to box, and was very agile. You can see how he moves. It is more like a basketball player. Same with Douglas. Same with Biggs.
Now Smith, yeah, just a Big Strong Bull.

Listen, Frazier is my all-time favourite fighter and I'd love that to be true, but Ali would not have quit, and you are fooling yourself if you think he would have. Yes he may have said that, he may have collapsed from exhaustion after it was announced he'd won, but he would have gone out for round 15, make no mistake. Two warriors in the ring that night and neither would have quit.

Frazier was 1-0 up on Tyson before they even entered the ring. Frazier feared no man, pyschologically he had Tyson beaten all ends up before they even set foot in the squared-circle.

It wouldn't matter. Fight wouldn't go on long enough for Tyson's "lack of heart" to be questioned. And Tyson did take his share of beatings and might have given up when he was in it for the money. We are talking prime Tyson here. But again, I think a prime Tyson would stomp Fraizer so quick it wouldn't matter. Oh and since when is Tyson a *****? :huh

Anyway, Foreman said in some interview that he was "afraid" of Fraizer and as long as he was champ he wouldn't be, we all know what happened.
