They were both trained to use the peekaboo style by Cus D'amato.

Prime Tyson would have done a paint job on Smoking Joe, no matter how psychologically superior people think he was. He had one way of fighting, going straight forward, and when that didn't work it was over for hime. He would have come right after Tyson and Tyson would have gone after hime and when the smoke cleared Joe would be on the canvas. Really, other than this assumed psychological edge, did Frazier have a single physical advantage?

Patterson was a crackin fighter in his own way but for me nothing at all like Tyson

    Thats too easy to say

Would frazier have lost to Douglas that way ?

Would frazier have quit against Holy ?

Would Tyson have hunted Ali down all night , walking through a fury of punches for 15 rounds ?

I think not to all of that.

As I said, styles make fights. Tyson was a superior version of Frazier, end of story.

Who knows if Frazier would have lost to Douglas on that night??? There are a hundred reasons why Tyson lost that fight: incompetent corner, poor training, loss of Kevin Rooney and an extremely motivated Buster Douglas who fought the fight of his life and dedicated it to his mother who had died a few weeks earlier.

Would Frazier have won under those circumstances? Who know? What I do know is that Frazier would step into the ring without a single physical advantage. At least Douglas had size and stength.

Frazier would have cut up and TKo Marciano within 5 rounds. Frazier vs Tyson would have been a war, test of the chin in that fight.

I didn't say end of story because I'm haughy, friend. I said it because you haven't been able to provide a reasonable explanation as to how Frazier would win the fight. Yes, he beat better fighters. Yes, he is a legend. However, in my humble opinion, it's a horrible sylistic matchup for Frazier. It'd be like Larry Holmes against Ali. Two guys with similar styles who both do everything well...But one does everything just a little bit better than the other. I don't see a single advantage for Frazier, whom I like.
