Anyone know more about this? Reason I brought it up was apparently he was managing Duane Bobick in the 70's and when Bobick was going to fight Norton, he felt Bobick wasn't ready, but was overruled by Eddie Futch and someone else involved with Bobick. I know of course that he later managed Marvis Frazier and Bert Cooper early in his career, along with some other fighters, but I didn't know if he was managing other boxers while he was still active?
He kept beating them up and making them feel lazy and cowardly. It was a big problem. Their chrum would shrink before him and diminish their confidence to ruin. It ruined careers.
I don't think they sparred, I think he was just randomly beating them up for not being more alpha. To show them how you're supposed to be alpha. Presumably. Or just because he couldn't help it.
...This question has always been somewhat of an Achilles heel to me, Golden. I don't like it and I plead the fifth.
All I know is he ruined any chance Marvis had at being a champion by puffing I'm up to heavyweight and adopting the same style of his father .. Marvis could have been a terrific boxer/puncher at cruiserweight ..
It's my posting style. Once you have developed one, only the moderators can really stop you. And should. So we can start going outside again.
