Questions if these two had locked horns
How would Frazier s famous left hook match up against Tyson s own left hook counters?

Would Frazier s stamina and late rounds intensity overcome Tyson s early storm.?

Both were short heavyweight s, who uses that more to their advantage here ?

Tyson s peekaboo, how does that affect the fight?

Frazier gets bombed out in first few rounds.

Tyson is slightly bigger, faster, better combination puncher, better defence, better puncher in regards to being able to stop an opponent with either hand.

It's like two tanks going at it but one has slightly better arsenal.

It's a bad style match up for Frazier.

I've always had these 3 fighters as stylistic nightmares for Frazier.

I cant see a scenario where Tyson loses. Fraziers stamina wouldnt come in to play as the fight would be over long before then IMO.

Frazier has one good hand Tyson has two. Joe would be brave and taking a terrible shellacking. His style is all wrong to be fighting Tyson. the Ref stops it in 4 rounds with Frazier badly bruised and bleeding.

Mike's handspeed and combinations would be effective with Frazier bringing his head right to him. I see Tyson's uppercuts being the culprit that makes it a short night.
Joe may slip 2 or 3 shots but eventually Tyson would get through. Tyson had power in virtually every punch in his arsenal.

One of these fighters could contest a full 15 round fight the other one could not.

LOL!! This topic seems to pop up in various forms pretty often--and I'll stand by the following:

FOTC Frazier vs peak Tyson--Tyson has to get Joe early within the first 4-5 rounds (which he certainly could do.) But if it goes longer Frazier wins--he would simply grind Mike down and prevail in a savage war!!

Ultimately, if Frazier comes in as fanatical as he was against Ali in 71' he can win. BUT--Joe would have to be in that kind of condition mentally and physically to pull it off!

PS--One important intangible-Tyson's normal intimidation factor wouldn't come into play here. Frazier had no fear of anyone!!

FYI--I found this fascinating statistical analysis on Tyson and Frazier (source Ring Magazine)

“When one compares the prime performances of Tyson and Frazier, Frazier wins most of the statistical arguments. He was the more active combatant (53.6 punches per round to Tyson’s 34) whose punch distribution was more destructive (81.7% of Frazier’s total punch attempts and 89.8% of his overall connects were power shots to Tyson’s 67.1% and 79.5% respectively). Also, Frazier was more accurate overall (51.1% to 45.9%), attempted and connected with more power punches per round (43.8 attempts and 24.6 connects per round to Tyson’s 22.8 attempts and 12.4 connects per round) and was the more precise power-hitter (56.2% vs. 54.4% landed). Somewhat surprisingly, given their reputations, Frazier was also the harder fighter to hit, as his prime opponents landed 27.7% overall, 16% jabs and 35.8% power while Tyson’s foes connected on 34.1% overall, 28.1% jabs and 39.6% power."

That about Joe fearing no one, absolutely true.
The man would have WANTED to get in the ring with Tyson.

I think Joe would win because Mike and Joe would both walk forward and Mike would clinch like he always did and Joe would punch like he always did

Yes this one is fascinating really. Logic makes people think Frazier would get blown away, but Mike for all his destructive power is a total different style to Big George.

Few interesting things here that makes this a slight worry for Tyson:

    1. Tyson relies on intimidation but that will not work against Smokin Joe. Most people Tyson defeated were beat before they got in the ring. Joe is fearless.

    2. The longer a fight goes on, Tyson has the potential to get frustrated and he has has been questioned when opponents fight back. Joe will fight back all day long. He does not know quit.

    3. Joe has one of the beat left hooks ever and an underrated right hand.

    4. Don't let the Foreman fight full you and don't forget Joe still kept getting up.

    5. Without doubt Joe has a better workrate and better stamina than Tyson.

    6. Joe has as much heart as any heavyweight in history.

The only losses Joe has in the pros are to arguably the strongest heavyweight ever in Foreman and without doubt the Greatest heavy ever in Ali and he gave him hell in 3 fights.

It would be such a compelling fight to watch. The build up and excitement would be insane.

Gun to head I think I'd take Frazier.

Tyson is a front runner. He isn't as fast or accurate if his opponent isn't intimidated. (which is one reason why Holyfield beats him in 90 or 96.. probably Frazier too)

I would drop 5 "Benny Franklins" to see this live without even blinking!! Wouldn't want to be in the nosebleeds but for a decent seat in the lower concourse (e.g. Madison Square Garden) I'd camp out overnight at the box office if I had to!!
