You're the first person I have ever heard who claimed that Max Schmeling punched harder than Ali. There is nothing in Schmeling's record or on any film of him I have seen that even remotely suggests that he punched anywhere near as hard as Ali. As I said, had Schmeling had Ali's competition his ko percentage would be total crap. Heavyweights in Schmeling's day were crude (watch the films like I do and you will have to lie to yourself about what you are seeing to disagree). He was one of the more skilled of the lot. Fastforward him to Ali's day and Baer-Schmeling happens every other time out.

Had Frazier fought in Louis' era he would have posted a record like Louis. Louis' opposition would have stood little chance against Frazier. Frazier didn't fight as often as Louis because fans weren't buying the bum of the month **** anymore. Louis' title fight opponents would have caused a scandal in the 1960s and 1970s if promoters had tried to sell that **** to the public. Johnny Paycheck? Get real. Frazier knew that against the giants of his day, given the way his head swelled up like a pumpkin, that he couldn't fight all the time. But it's not like it mattered much. Foreman would have blown Frazier away no matter when he had fought him. It's a matter of style and Foreman's alien punching power. Frazier could take shots up until the threashold was passed, then he was in trouble. Foreman was threshold passing trouble X ten.

Max Baer might have been not SRR. Like George Foreman (who you have picked to beat Joe Louis incidentaly despite the fact he can't box worth sh1t) he ad a crude but effective offensive style that beat his oponents down.

You must have a very short memory which is rather selective. Janitor is not the 1st person you have heard say Schmeling punched harder than Ali. I clearly said the same to you a few posts back.

Ali wasn't in his prime when he fought Frazier the 1st time but he wasn't a million miles from it. Yes '67 Ali would have beaten '71 Frazier but it still would have been mighty close and a hell of a tough fight. Frazier isn't a loser, he's bitter and has said some unsavoury things about Ali, however, Ali was also unnecessarily cruel to Frazier before all their fights.

I was a big Marciano fan but the truth is you are absolutely correct. Ali would probably defeat Marciano. One of Ali's seldom mentioned qualities was his great chin.
