Joe Frazier sparring Ken Norton

The old question, if the two had actually faced off in the ring.?
I go with Joe by 7,ko.

 

I seen this up a few times now, it tells us nothing about a true bout between the two sadly.

 

I have not seen this before. Really enjoyed. Thank you for sharing it.

I've seen a lot of talk that those that used to watch them spar had little doubt Frazier would prevail. Sparring isn't everything but maybe in this case it's meaningful.

 

Eddie Futch knew something was wrong with Joe down in Jamaica when he saw Ken Norton getting the better of Frazier in camp leading up to his title defense against George Foreman. Futch said that Frazier at or near his best "always handled" Norton in sparring.

Norton would give Frazier a great fight because Joe was a slow starter. Kenny would be able to get through the early rounds.

 

Really nice clip. Ken looks good here, showing good spatial awareness. I know it's just a mild sparring session, but I'm just saying.

It's a pity they never fought. It would have been a really good fight, and given us lots more to talk about.

 

It looks like Ken is using alot of energy just to keep Joe off him. Frazier is just on cruise control.
