Joe Frazier is my favorite Pre Tyson Heavyweight but let's be honest. He never perfected the bob and weave like Tyson did. Tyson would have dominated Foreman with his head movement.

Regarding the highlighted section... WUT?Secondly, don't forget that he also beat Bonavena twice and ruined Mathis. Many people forget just how good these guys were.

Ali is one overrated, not Frazier. No one calls Frazier greatest, and he is left out of most top tens (rightly so) But while Ali was overall greater due to longevity, he also got decisons he did not deserve. Frazier would have still beaten Ali if he had come along in 1967. I got tired long ago of the 'Ali was greatest in 1964-67" lie.

Frazier deserved decision in second Ali fight. Ali held so much he made Vlad Klitschko look like a guy who never clinches.

Frazier wiped out all competition, and if he had taken care of himself he could have hung along a bit longer. His main problem was style, one dimensional, tailor made for Foreman.

Never saw the Ali-Frazier rematch but I heard Ali held SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much and people were stunned he didn't lose points for holding.

Eddie Futch showed on one broadcast with writers how Ai clinched 135 times in 12 rounds and he often just refused to let go when ref instructed. If Frazier had gotten decision, which he deserved, big money fights were gone. o they let Ali have it, same with norton.

I don't believe pre-exile Ali was all that much better than post-exile. That's part of the Ali myth, the matrix that rules boxing history. Frazier would have given that spindly, running Ali, total hell. If Henry Cooper would deck Ali, Frazier could have killed him. And Ali-Frazier II is no great victory on Ali's record; he held all night, and the ref let him do it. Many of us think Frazier won.

Saying Ali's gifts were totally diminished is laughable. I can't think of one fighter Ali beat in the 60's that Frazier wouldn't have beat. Also, Ali even in his prime was always vulnerable to being countered by left hooks, which were Frazier's best weapon. Prime Ali was completely floored and almost stopped against Cooper, who isn't half the fighter Frazier was.

Also, if Frazier has an incredibly weak resume than almost no fighter has a solid resume.

Frazier beat Chuvalo, Buster Mathis, Joe Bugner, Bonavena, Jerry Quarry, and Jimmy Ellis, who all had solid wins under their belt. However, you not giving Frazier credit for beating Ali can work the other way around, since after their first fight Frazier struggled with weight and vision problems. Frazier in top shape was around 200-205lbs, but in the 2nd and 3rd Ali fights Frazier was 210+ and in the 2nd Foreman fight was over 220lbs. I could just as easily say that Ali beat a fat and diminished Frazier.

Joe Frazier beat more top guys in 37 fights than most do in 100. His record is exemplary for not taking easy fights, sort of like Oscar De La Hoya's. After he won Olympic Gold he didn't waste any time. 12th fight he's fighting Oscar Bonavena, a top ten heavyweight. He follows that up with Eddie Machen and George Chuvalo, two of the other top tens of the era. Mathis, Quarry, Ellis, Bonavena again. These are all top ten guys. Ali times three and Foreman times two. Quarry and Ellis again. Ellis was a WBA champion. He fought the best repeatedly. And he also beat Joe Bugner a superheavyweight. The only top guy he's not fighting at the time was his buddy Norton. And his KO rate is pretty high too.
