I have a forum attached to my website where we discuss boxing, MMA, music, etc. Someone started a thread the other day asking if Joe Frazier could knock out a gorilla. The conversation is....interesting. http://dugger-s-ranch.2299399.n4.nabble.com/Joe-Frazier-versus-A-Gorilla-tp4659418.html Thoughts?
Gorilla's have way thicker bones and muscles. You could hit them with a baseball bat and not knock them out. Plus, they have the strength of 7-10 men. So no, Joe Frazier can't knock out a Gorilla.
The Gorilla makes a few fake charges...then spends a lot of time beating his own chest...Joe hits him with a few left hooks to the body...The Gorilla thinks he is being tickled... and sits down...and does not get up before the 10 count is completed, he subsequently complains of a quick count...and sues the commission, the commission settles out of court for 10 Bananas and a signed photo of Sigourney Weaver as Dian Fossey.
This should be removed. It is just a continuation of Ali's taunting of Frazier, making Joe seem like an animal. A gorilla would kill all of them no sweat, even the giants like Lewis, Valuev, and the Ks. The fact that they chose Frazier for this comparison is fishy to me and I think it's just more Ali-esque abuse.
:yep Do we know who GJ is on here? Also, Double A is cute. Also...wait, is that a cup size? :bart Deal breaker.
FOTC Frazier beats the gorilla on the cards in a 10-5 type affair (assuming 15 rounds). I think the Gorilla wins the first 5 actually. Joe could be a notorious slow starter. I think Joe then wins the remaining 10. The gorilla will gas towards the end of the fight (part of it boils down to what kind of camp the gorilla had going into this). The Gorilla could get into Joe's head at various press conferences, especially if he is promoted by Don King. King could lead the gorilla down a seedy path of resorting to mind games like this. This could have an effect on the fight. Realistically I think any Frazier from FOTC to 1975 should pull out a win. I'm basing this on a fight my grandfather saw in 1926 where Jack Dempsey fought a gorilla in a hobo camp made entirely of monkeys. Jack won the fight easily, but pops attributed it to the lack of a standing eight count and neutral corner rule. Dempsey got the ape down early and was just hovering over him, right hand drawn back. The gorilla never really even got into the fight. Legend has it, Dempsey bet his entire purse of 50,000 bananas on a first round KO victory for himself! This is what led to his aggressive opening.
I never saw a gorilla fight, but I saw the fighting kangaroo who won all his six bouts, but was arrested in a bar fight, and jumped bail...
I work with animals and i will tell you that if any person had a fight with a Gorilla it wouldn't be much of a fight because the Gorilla would pummel any persons head off with one flick of it's fist and if you punched it or even if you hit it with an iron bar it would hardly feel it.
