If Mr. Atlas, Mike Tyson 'biggest advocate', picks a clear winner, you´d better believe it. This content is protected
I was gonna go for Tyson early or Frazier late but after seeing who this buffoon went for, I’m leaning towards the latter.
If I had to wager I would wager on Tyson's speed and two handed attack being the difference. Mike's uppercuts being too quick. The only reservation would be the way Buster Mathis Jr made Tyson miss and look bad for a brief 3+ rounds but that was in 1995. On the other hand Mathis had no power which wouldn't be the case with Joe Frazier. Based on their total body's of work...Tyson probably inside 5.
Frazier could counterpunch as well. Nobody ever really avoided Joe's hook. In his prime it was kind of like a whip. Tyson was more explosive but if the bell rings for round 6 Mike might want to back the Bentley up. Anything after this favor Frazier, can he get there is the hurdle. He might I just can't bet on it.
Atlas's prediction of a Liston Tyson matchup was as accurate as it gets, Tyson was trying to be an intimidator while Sonny was the real thing, I've always thought Liston would kill Tyson, and as Atlas said, looking at Sonny Mike would know he's at the wrong place at the wrong time in with the wrong man. He couldn't handle Liston and he'd know it and act accordingly.
Slow starting Joe against quick out of the traps Tyson. Joe was the better man and the better Champion but he's in the wrong fight here.
