Baer gave Louis plenty of issues first time around, and had a pretty impressive KO record (albeit against less than stellar opponents). How does Baer do against Frazier? Does he get smoked, or is Baer a stylistic problem too significant to overcome?
Joe Frazier is simply too good for Buddy Baer, who while a heavy puncher is NOT George Foreman. Joe Frazier at his best would have defensively confounded Baer, and wrecked his body before a left to the jaw ends it. A better fight would be Max vs Joe
Baer had the physical tools to hurt Frazier with but was leagues beneath him in skill and talent. I’d favor Joe Frazier but Bear’s size and punching power would make him a threat
Buddy doesn't have Foreman's accuracy or speed. He was also getting pummeled in every round against Louis despite the knockdown. Frazier should win this. Some hesitation from the fact that Frazier never beat a big puncher and Buddy did quite well against Galento. He also has quality stoppages over Abe Simon and Nathan Mann and he also managed to outbox Lee Savold. The Mann and Galento fights are especially notable here because both were short crouching fighters. Joe should still be the favorite here due to his great head movement, left hook and stamina. He will wear the durable Baer down for a KO in the 10th.
