Prime for Prime who wins? Both had great left hooks and both were powerful sluggers. They both also have questionable chins, it's a question of who can land the bomb first.
Floyd would have to be "mean" to beat Frazier. Only saw Floyd mean once.....in the Ingo 2 fight. Frazier was mean in every fight. Gotta go with Joe.
I don't think Joe had a questionable Chin. Foreman and is a huge banger, but Joe kept getting up. It's no shame getting knocked down, and the fighters that knocked Joe down could punch. Joe's chin wasn't like Ali's, but it wasn't like Lewis', either. Patterson, on the other hand, did have a questionable chin, and went down quite a bit. Both these guys had big left hook, but Joe's was better, as was Joe. I give this fighter to Frazier by KO iby round 5.
I think this would be a really good fight. Patterson has the better right hand and jab, Frazier has the better left hook (by a slight margin) Patterson has the superior handspeed, Frazier has better defense. I think it'd be a tough fight, if anyone gets stopped I think it'd be Patterson, but if it went the distance Floyd has a good chance at taking a decision.
Yeah, I don't see how Patterson could keep Frazier off him for very long. And Frazier took some of the best punches Ali ever delivered in his stride, so I don't see how Patterson would KO him, either. Guys who punched as hard or harder than Patterson (Bonavena, Quarry, Ramos, Mathis and Ali) tried and failed. Patterson, on the other hand, would not be standing up to Fraziers left-hook for very long.
Frazier will go down first, and it depends on how good he's able to survive it. If he is successful, he's stoping Patterson in mid-rounds.
I can see Floyds' quickness giving Frazier problems early, but Joe just keeps coming forward and grinds down Patterson. Joe KO10 Floyd
I too feel that Joe would eventually take out Floyd via TKO; he would need every bit of that "mean" Ingo 2 Floyd but when did we ever see it? I do, however, disagree with your assessment of his punching power stacked up against the afformentioned guys. Bonavena: more a clubber, his KO record against top flight guys isn't that good. Quarry: I still maintain his punching power is a tad overrated-stiff puncher with a granite chin (don't forget Floyd decked him) Mathis: no way, big boxer-semi-puncher Ali: outside of his oft-perfect right hand on the button, he really didn't have anything as potent as Floyd's left hook. Interesting that had Patterson gotten the decision against Ellis, his only respectable road as WBA champ would have led to Frazier. (ouch!)
