Just a note. When Frazier was knocked down by Bonavena that was in their first fight {1966}. Joe was still a pretty green pro. His 11th professional fight. He was fighting a tough and more seasoned fighter. Not an excuse but I think it`s relevant because they fought again 2 years later {1968} and in 15 rounds Oscar wasn`t able to do much with Joe.
why would frazier need to fight lyle or shavers ? shavers got stopped in 1 rd by quarry in late 73 ....lyle lost to quarry in 74 ...and frazier fought quarry the man to beat both quarry and lyle ..not fraziers fault both shavers and lyle cant beat jerry quarry :deal
i got a ton of ike ibeabuchi dvds of tua/byrd /delgado /c jones/m wilson/ pickrom / ect .....if u look at rahman v tua #1 before the stoppage rahman was beating tua better then ike was ...ike used to get beatings in sparring by u guessed it kirk johnson down in houston texas ........so dont ever tell me off 2 fights that ike ibeabuchi is gonna beat joe frazier
Exactly. Ibeabuchi is the most overrated HWs of all time. He had exactly TWO fights against live bodies, one of which (Tua), he arguably lost. And based on this, people say he would be competitive with JOE FRAZIER? It is ridiculous, based on the actual record of each fighter to even put them in the same sentence.
Glad someone else sees it this way. Ike sometimes gets mentioned in the same breath as some of the very best and I don't see what this is based on, Going neck and neck with Tua? Well, let's start a thread that David Izon beats a prime Foreman if that's the criterion for greatness. Perhaps if he'd spent more time fighting men rather than women, he might be worth some of the hype. But he didn't. So he's not.
