LOL!! I don't think Johannson's in the same class--to put it VERY mildly!!

That, & Frazier was only in his 12th pro fight.

In the rematch, a more experienced Frazier dominated Bonavena w/o incident.

I’m flatly amazed by how frequently this fight is held against Frazier, & that’s before you even consider how handily he won the rematch. Within a dozen bouts of turning pro, he beats Bonavena, & this is a negative!?

    Nooooo, thank you.

That fact and some make it seem as Bonavena was some 3rd rate club fighter. Which he definitely wasn't, all of his losses came against world class competition, I believe all were ranked in the top ten.
Bonavena wasn't a stylistic crowd pleaser.
He was what made boxing so great before this century.
He used what worked for him. His awkwardness and physical strength .( Every opponent he faced was impressed with his strength)
He took those attributes and rode them as far as he could. He was never a easy night for anyone he faced, even Ali.
Most management teams/ trainers probably would've avoided Bonavena so early for a promising up and coming pro like Joe Frazier in only his 12th pro fight.
( I'm positive they definitely had regrets in that 2nd rd)
But Frazier getting past that rd and ultimately beating Bonavena showed very early Frazier was for real.

Ingo has a punchers chance, but more likely is Joe destroys him.

Johannson could put him down with that right hand if he timed it, like Bonavena, but I see Frazier getting up and stopping him.

Yeah, if only he had the timing of Bonavena.
