I mean instinctive relative to other all time greats.

Some fighters you study film of them and they know what their opponent will do before they do it and come up with the perfect counter based on the initial reflex of the opponent.

Sonny Liston is one example of this and Jack Dempsey is another.

But Dempsey faded in the later rounds, and that is suicide against Frazier! If the fight goes past round 10, Dempsey is in for a beating.:good

Two hands are better than one. Dempsey could punch with either and both hands. Frazier's bread and butter was that left hook, great in the trenches in a mid-intensity brawl or for swinging at a retreating boxer.

This is a fantastic fight. I believe Frazier would make it a face-to-face battle royal most of the way, as he would bull into Dempsey, and this is where I see him outgunned, two to one. He would eat hard leather from both sides, particularly from a lead, mid-range straight right.

On the other hand, it is true that Dempsey could be hit in a slugfest, as Firpo and even Carpentier did, but it seems he was more vulnerable to a right hand than the left hook.

Two evenly matched greats in many respects, yet, even discounting the spot-on observation that Frazier starts slow and Dempsey is primed at the bell, it's simple mathematics: 2 hands > 1 hand = a Dempsey win.
