Lately arguments about ATG lists have me thinking of matchups based on ring weights and not weigh-in weights or even weight classes. For example, Marciano is not a heavyweight in the modern division, while Bivol is a heavyweight in Marciano’s era. So, Frazier was 205 in the FOTC. There’s no way Jai Opetaia is actually less than that when he enters the ring. as such, they’re pretty well matched in weight. So, how does the fight go? I’d be a little worried about Frazier starting slow, but it would be wild with both of them warmed up and standing in the pocket.
Not impossible Jai would dominate early. And we don't know how Joe matches up vs southpaws. But i think Jai will fade late in the fight and Joe's bodywork will be enough to stop Jai late.
Anytime Opetaia gets hit by a reasonable puncher his face starts to break apart. Briedis past his prime broke Opetaia's jaw. A 41 year old Cinkara made Opetaia's face look like he'd been in a meat grinder. Frazier breaks him up and stops him in the 2nd half of the fight.
I like Opetaia but his defense isn't the best and Joe would exploit that over and over for a mid-late KO.
There's another Frazier thread where a comparison of his stats to Tyson from Ring mag was posted, Frazier was harder to hit, threw and landed more power shots Ali has said Frazier hit him "as hard as anybody ever did" or something to that effect I would expect Frazier to hurt this other guy, **** him up badly
