Joe looked completely shot. I just watched parts of this fight, and it's a little sad. The announcer is really biased against seeing an Old Joe in the ring. Jumbo kinda fights like a "Foreman Jr." with those uppercuts and brickwall build, however, Floyd Cummings style is rougher and simpler than Foreman's. If Joe had any semblance of strength he possibly could have stunned his lumbering opponent.

It also reminded me of when I was playing Fight Night Round 4 legacy mode and my fighter's career (create a fighter, Mike McCallum) came to an end after a fight in which he was too old and any punch he landed couldn't count towards ****. He had lost all his strength at this point, and I was simply counting on his ability to outland with a really weak one-two and some slap'n'dash bodywork. In his last fight this wouldn't work and I would end up getting pasted by another 'create a fighter', Danny Jacobs.

Jumbo was a muscled bound fighter but could not fight, Frazier was shot at that point and was never the same fighter after Ali 1 ...yea he had some quality rematches with Ali after but niether man was the same the left so much in the ring with those 3 fights. Fraziers style requires 1000% conditioning

I felt Jumbo should have won, either way, in a sense a win over this Fraizer would not mean much in the long run.

Cummings wasn't really a "bum". At 15-1, and with proven capacity to take a punch as well having excellent upper body strength, Cummings was a very solid clubfighter. Remember that Cummings's only loss at that point was to top 10 contender Reynaldo Snipes. On the basis of ability, Cummings was probably one of the world's top 30 heavyweights in 1981.

Keep in mind also that Frazier hadn't had a fight in over five years when he met Cummings in 1981. Thus, Frazier was probably only 50%, at best, of his prime self that night.

Cummings to take a whack. I'm surprised Frazier didn't tune-up on a couple of softies -- getting quick knockouts -- before fighting Cummings.

I remember Cummings giving Frank Bruno a very nasty shock, and revealing his vulnerability to the British public for the first time.

Joe had soaked up an awful lot of punishment in his career with his swarming style, so was much older in ring years than his 37 years.

Remember when Smokin Joe was going to fight Knoetze when he was hot and Joe pulled out? Man, I'm glad he did. Bad fight. He wouldn't have had much better form than he had in there against Cummings at that stage of the game and the problem would be that he'd be in with a slugger. And Joe would slug too & I just don't like seeing old favorites getting dusted by guys that would've been fortunate to have been sparring partners 10 years earlier.

Even better, Mr. Bill, he filed a lawsuit against ESPN Classic for televising his fight and ruining his privacy and personal life from the Joliet Correctional library. He wants 50 Million for emotional pain and discomfort.....
