Imagine George Foreman suffers a long term injury just before his title shot, and instead Norton gets the title shot based on his victory over Ali.

    How would this fight go?

Don't think it would end well for Norton. He was a little open for the left hook and his cross armed defense doesnt help matters.

Norton plays it safe in the early round and jabs away at Frazier, little lands for either man. Soon Norton starts to plant his feet and throw combinations. A few shots land but Frazier starts to get the timing down. A right to the body, a left here and there and soon Norton is running and Joe is running after him. Joe lands brutal left hooks in between Norton's wild flailing arms. TKO for Frazier somewhere between the 10 - 12 for me.

such an obvious great matchup of the time and I don't think I've ever thought of it. I think its a bad matchup for Norton. frazier would be on the inside just killing him to the body then going upstairs. To fast, too many punches thrown, and I think Joe would be to hard to hit for Kenny

Ironically Norton might have the better body attack of the two for whatever that is worth.

Style wise Norton's overhand looping right should be easy for Frazier to slip and get inside on, but once he's inside there's no guarantee that he'll be able to produce the better work.

    Frazier by mid round KO

I feel as if Frazier's power has become somewhat underrated on this forum

Great matchup luf, prime for prime I have little doubts that Frazier stops Norton and it could be as early as the 3/4th round, however it would be silly to overlook Norton in this matchup considering where Frazier was at, at this point of time. Suffering from ring rust and a fair amount of his dedication was lost upon beating Ali, I think we have to make a lot of assumptions on the shape that Frazier was in.

I feel like we have to make a fair amount of assumptions about this version of Frazier, he may or may not have been better or worse than the Fraizer from the second Ali fight, or even Manilla

Don't get me wrong, we'd have to make assumptions that Norton would be able to handle Frazier's power and his swarming style is kryptonite against Frazier, but this version might well be the there for the taking.

I'd still back Joe, but there's a lot of things to consider here and assumptions to be made on both sides.

I see alot of "Frazier UD"s against opponents that I wouldn't consider iron-chinned enough to take that left hook with Frazier's volume

Do you have to be iron chinned to lose a decision to Frazier?

Yes, or else you'd get stopped and dropped

Dunno who'd win that, though if you held a gun to my head, I'd bet Frazier. Yes Id see Frazier knocking Wlad out if he won

Despite Wlad and I suppose Lewis, not possessing an iron chin, I'd pick both over Frazier

Id pick Lewis over Frazier as well. I never said you need an iron chin to beat Frazier, I said you need an iron chin to survive Frazier, aka lose while getting viciously beat for 15 rounds
