Discussion in 'Classic Boxing Forum' started by bxrfan, Jan 13, 2008.

  1. if you want we can do a thread "is riddick bowe top 10 hardest punchers?"

foreman, shavers, marciano, max baer, mike tyson, david tua, joe louis, sonny liston, lennox lewis, vitali klitschko, wladimir klitschko, joe frazier(left hook), jack dempsey, gerry cooney.. all them were harder punchers than bowe

donovan ruddock, frank bruno, ron lyle, tommy morrison ... i might argue that they were harder punchers too.

    ****ing clown ignorant!!!

Holyfield will tell you himself that Bowe had nowhere near the power of old George and some argue that young George had slightly more power than old George.

Eddie Futch himself, who was the trainer for Riddick Bowe and guided a large part of his career said Frazier, who he also trained, would beat Bowe. Riddick may have some success on the inside because his inside game was excellent for a big man. Frazier still stops him. Too much pressure and head movement for Bowe to handle aside from the fact that he doesn't bring the killer element in the early rounds that Foreman did to a not so prime Frazier in 1973.

Bowe was a 'good puncher', if he could catch you early.
Frazier was a 'catcher' in the early rounds.
Joe usually took 3 rounds to get going.
This would have been one interesting fight for 3-4 rounds.

Remember, Buster Mathis. Couldn't punch a lick, but hammered Smokin Joe for 6 rounds before he started running 'out-of-gas'.

Really? How would he do that? Bowe was bigger and far stronger. He would uppercut the **** out of the smaller Frazier and stop him rather quickly.

Smoke was miles ahead of Evander as an inside fighter and Evander banged up Riddick Bowe pretty good on the inside in all of their fights. Firstly, let's avoid using the Frazier of 73 that fought Foreman, but the version of Joe from 68 to FOTC. Bowe would have his hands full with that version of Frazier and likely gets stopped well before the 12 round distance. Frazier would finish Bowe where Golota couldn't without pulling any Golota low blows.

Now put Bowe in front of Frazier instead of George Foreman in 1973 and I think Bowe has the potential to stop this version of Frazier before the middle rounds.

Lets just use Frazier from the FOTC because the criteria used for Bowe is all from 1 fight [Holy 1] any weakness's brought up and there asre cries of Bowe was shot then - Very convenient

Well Frazier from FOTC would beat Bowe

  10. if you think that bowe was harder puncher than vitali you are dreaming man, anyway this idiot said that bowe is top 10 hardest puncher, it is pure crap.

    No one really knows.
If Bowe couldn't get Joe out of there early (Rounds 1 thru 4), then he would be peeing blood for about a month.
Joe's chin was a little 'shaky' in the early going of fights.

Carlos Monzon staggered Joe in a Philly sparring session in 1972.

  13. it is only a rumor, nobody have proofs on it,i am sure ,it is a lie.

but tommy morrison(not harder puncher than frazier) destroyed bowe who was his sparring partner, and it is a fact.

Smokin' Joe by wide, but hard fought decision. I can't see Bowe defending himself well enough in the latter stages of the fight,to pull out the win.

I never read Futch say that but I believe Frazier is way too much for Bowe over 15 .. Joe would stop him ..
