This may have been discussed in a previous thread --but I think it's been awhile since it was last posted. Anyhow it's such a compelling matchup that IMHO it bears revisiting.

I know the Rock's going to get a LOT of backing--but I honestly think the Frazier of 1970-71 FOTC vintage beats Marciano. I say this because Joe would simply SMOKE Marciano with non-stop pressure, great bounce and head movement, and just intense PACE!

Marciano had great stamina and punching power-no question there. But there was a certain "deliberateness" (if that's the right word) to his fighting style. And he could be hit and also could be cut. I just think Frazier wears the Rock down with sheer relentlessness and work rate. KO or stoppage in about 12 rounds!

    My dream fight!

If you had a gun to my head, I'd probably pick Frazier, but I don't know. Ali himself, perhaps being gracious to his old buddy Marciano, said Rocky was better. Frazier was a little bigger, and probably had as good a chin, considering that he fought bigger guys, but one thing no one can deny is that Marciano had two-fisted power, whereas Frazier simply had a fair right to the body.

"Ooo he hit hard. He hit you so hard it'd jar your kin folks in Africa...it'd been rough...I truly think on my best day and his best day I would have beaten him...I think he was better than Joe Frazier, I truly think he was better than Joe Frazier and you know what Joe Frazier did to me...I think it would be even, he may have won. It's just hard...In his heyday, he may have won. It's up to the imagination."

I've always thought that Marciano edges this one thanks to sheer dogged persistence.

I've never ever had a single doubt that Frazier beats Marciano
Let me edit in here how unbelievable yet not surprised one bit that Ali would say Marciano was better based on moving around the ring with him to film a computer fight lol. It just again demonstrates how low Ali would go to disrespect Frazier. The man had no shame whatsoever. I truly could never stand him.

I would pay $500.00 for a ringside seat to this one! (And I'm NOT wealthy LOL!!)

Marciano after 14 rounds by TKO or KO but after the fight both fighters wont be able to ever fight again.

Two elite Swarmers except Frazier is bigger by atleast 20 pounds and had a proven track record beating elite big men over 200 pounds.

    Frazier by TKO.

Imagine the left hook from Walcott, but instead it's Frazier throwing like it's FOTC, Marciano will not have a late round stamina advantage and will regret every time he ends up inside with Frazier

Bad matchup for Rocky, Joe would negate all his strengths, Joe takes him out in a war.

Joe is too quick. He would be a step ahead the whole fight, landing first and second and last. And he had the engine of a young man not an old guy looking for breaks.

    Can I say draw!?

There’s probably no ATG Heavyweight fantasy matching that would deliver quite as surely, or for as long, as this would. Frazier’s bigger, Marciano hits harder. Frazier’s faster, Marciano has better power distribution. Frazier’s more proven against stronger opposition, Marciano’s undefeated. Frazier swells, Marciano cuts.

I’m giving it to Frazier but the tie-breaker is nothing more than he’s my favourite fighter of all-time. It’s an unmissable fight with a late stoppage or razor-wire decision the only plausible outcomes for me.

I see it about like if Bonavena was more on the competitive level of an Ali fight

Aside from a better right hand, I quite honestly don't see any advantages for Rocky.
