    They both fought:

    Memphis Al Jones-
    1966 Frazier KO1
    1974 Lyle KO5

    Chuck Leslie-
    1966 Frazier KO3
    1972 Lyle KO2

    Oscar Bonavena-
    1966 Frazier W10 and 1968 W15
    1974 Lyle W12

    George Johnson-
    1967 Frazier W10
    1972 Lyle KO3

    Manuel Ramos-
    1968 Frazier KO2
    1971 Lyle W10

    Buster Mathis-
    1968 Frazier KO11
    1972 Lyle KO2

    Jerry Quarry-
    1969 Frazier KO7 and 1974 KO5
    1973 Lyle L12

    Jimmy Ellis-
    1970 Frazier KO5 and 1975 KO9
    1974 Lyle W12

    Muhammad Ali-
    1971 Frazier W15, 1973 L12, and 1975 LKOby14
    1975 Lyle LKOby11

    Joe Bugner-
    1973 Frazier W12
    1977 Lyle W12

    George Foreman-
    1973 Frazier LKOby2 and 1976 LKOby5
    1976 Lyle LKOby5

They should have fought each other at some point.

Anyway, Lyle beat 8 fighters who already had losses to Frazier. Lyle lost to 2 fighters who had lost to Frazier (Ali and Quarry). They both lost to Ali and Foreman... but Frazier also has a win over Ali.

Pretty close in regards to their common opponents but Frazier gets the nod here due to his wins over Quarry (x2) and Ali (1 out of 3).

    Other notable fights for both:

    Frazier-

    Eddie Machen KO10
    Doug Jones KO6
    George Chuvalo KO4
    Bob Foster KO2

    Lyle-

    Gregorio Peralta W10 and D10
    Jose L. Garcia KO3
    Ernie Shavers KO6
    Jimmy Young L12

Frazier gets the nod here as well.

    Tale of the tape?

    Frazier- 5'11 1/2" with a 73" reach and about 205-210Lbs.

    Lyle- 6'3" with a 76" reach and about 215-220Lbs.

    The fight?

Lyle wins the first few rounds due to Frazier being a late starter. Lyle jumps on Frazier right away and wins the first two rounds big... he even drops Frazier. Frazier keeps coming forward though and fights Lyle even in round 3. Frazier wins round 4 and 5 by slipping punches, getting close, and landing hooks to the body and head. Frazier is only 1 point behind Lyle after 5. Lyle tries his best to get back in the fight from the 6th round on but Frazier is one step ahead of him. By round 10 Frazier is starting to break Lyle down. Lyle still has his moments but is getting beat up and is very tired. In round 11 Frazier lands a great left hook to Lyle's chin while they exchange in the middle of the ring. Lyle staggers back into the corner and Frazier connects with another hook to Lyle's head... the ref has no choice but to step in.

    Frazier KO11

This is the likely scenario for me too.

Frazier too much of a work ethic, Power and stamina. Lyle had power but nothing like Foreman power and Lyle was slow. Frazier by TKO or KO, all day long

Look at Lyle-Quarry and put Frazier in there and tell me what you think

I like Frazier here. Lyle was more of a boxer than a slugger despite what anyone says and Fraziers pressure would be too much for him.

Frazier KO anywhere from 7 onward.

You say Quarry landed cleanly on Frazier. He did in the beginning for a bit and was then bombed out. Do you mind reminding me what Quarry did against Lyle ?

Big Ron Lyle is the most over rated fighter of the 70's in my honest opinion.

Quarry won a clear decision vs. Lyle, W12. Frazier stopped Quarry twice (TKO7 and TKO5). That doesn't mean anything though.

Lyle was a damn good fighter, but not as good as Frazier.
