I’d love to hear what makes you think Foreman was at his peak fighting Lyle. His near two-year ring absence beforehand? His completely altered & altogether less effective style shown in the fights right after? Perhaps his retirement at age 28.

Lyle is not overrated, in my opinion, and he's certainly not the most overrated on this forum. There are a few candidates far more deserving of that title than he.

Lyle was a solid boxer-puncher, who started very late during one of the best decades of heavyweight boxing in history. He also earned a few good wins and was well regarded at the time, being rated top-five by The Ring for the majority of the '70s. For mine, he's always a guy you'd give a chance amongst that tier of fighters who were never quite going to get the better of the elites...

...which, in the big picture, is pretty darn good, really.

All of that said, Lyle wouldn't have beaten any version of Frazier.

Frazier by stop...I seen Quarry pretty much dominate a prime Lyle - I had ringside tickets in MSG and Quarry rocked Lyle and Ron stayed honest in losing the decision. I also had ringside seats watching an older Lyle get KO'd in 1 by Jerry Cooney at Nassau Coliseum. Quarry had a good set of whiskers which could neutralize the Big Slow guys, but Frazier assaulted the body and head well and threw some combo's and doubled up with the hook. Frazier beats Ron to the punch and hit harder and sharper. Frazier tko from 8 to 12

I remember Lyle in real time and he wasn't the monster that some on here seem to frame him as.
The Foreman fight seems to have him labeled as a slugger . Plenty of his fights were nothing like that fight.
He was a good fighter but far from great.
FOTC Frazier was great but was never the same again.
FOTC Frazier is a class above Lyle and I'm not being disrespectful, just stating what I remember.
