Yup and very, very few people stopped Peralta only Mina at lhvy and Pastrano at lhvy[ cut eye]and Foreman. Peralta twice went the distance with Lyle, and he was an old man by then. Peralta had 116 fights and was stopped 3 times, and one of those was an eye injury . Factor in he fought till he was 38 years old and against men like Foreman,Lyle ,Bonavena,Chuvalo, etc To stop him was quite a feat!
True, now lets wait until the forums favourite uncle comes along and tells us that Peralta's water was drugged in both fights.
joe frazier would eat up a 34 yr old carl williams who was washed up and morrison got put on his ass 2x from feather fisted williams to tommys credit he came back and showed adversity to stop williams but joe frazier would eat carl williams .....whats the fascination with tommy morrison ???
Don't forget the war with Joe Hipp... A good fighter to measure Morrison by would be Bert Cooper, especially the one who walked through Joe Hipp, almost derailed Michael Moorer and came seconds away from upsetting Evander Holyfield.
Morrison had more one punch k.os even with a jab...hes much like Tyson more speed and accuracy put everything behind his punch, foreman just had weight.Particularly with 220 pound foreman who didn't have weight but leverage of swinging like a bat,no technical comparison, what makes Morrison more dangerous was his speed ,Frazier would be fighting a speedy power puncher not just a power puncher.
He was a im going to knock you out or your going to knock me out fighter...he actually only strategically boxed once and that's with foreman...all his other big fights he just went in there and punched away,he tried to be strategic with lewis but was just outmatched ,that's one fight he should have just went for it.
He beat foreman a top fighter than still...Ruddock was still there..he almost had Mercer quit in round 4..he beat up Bowe in sparring...he was no slouch ,morrisons only real loss when fully prepared was to lewis,i wouldn't say that takes away from anything..his biggest opponent was himself! who elite level is irrelevant anyway...in a h2h match fraizer is tailor made for him, only tall slick fighters who could punch gave him trouble,a fluke here and there but going by a mentally ready Morrison, frazier is going to have a big problem.
As much as I liked Tommy Morrison, he simply couldn't carry Smokin' Joe's jockstrap as a fighter. Frazier, may have been the roughest, toughest heavyweight champion we have had. Both Ali and Joe Bugner stated that Frazier was the toughest fighter they ever faced. Frazier, though maybe 15 pounds lighter than Morrison, is simply in another league. Morrison, for all his muscles that some here are oohing over, was a fragile fighter. He chemically built his body, but those chemicals didn't do anything for his weak jaw. Smokin' Joe was a hard man. When Morrison starts to weeze in the 4th or 5th round, Joe is just getting warm. Morrison gets face planted to the canvas.
im friends with rid**** bowe on facebook i just asked bowe if he ever sparred with morrison and his answer is no ...why do u lie dude ?
Ruddock was not there. He was ranked by no one and was a circus act. "Almost" only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades. Bentt is not misspelled. It actually means "knock Tommy the **** out". Mommy is calling from upstairs. The meatloaf is ready.
