This is gunna put the cat among the pigeons!! NUMBER 16??

Just behind Gene Tunney The Fighting Marine who sits at 15 - problem is the further you get on in history the more and more fighters you are having to shoe horn into the top 10 -if you have say 15-20 fighters who you might other wise have considered top 10 fighters then not all of them can go into the top 10 - but thats no disgrace - Frazier was a great fighter - a great warrior as were probably my top 20 - actually probably my top 30 were great fighters really - I'll only put my full list up if it's requested coz probably a lot have seen it (and torn it to peices) already

one fight makes sure smokin joe easily stays in anyones top ten heavys of all time , ali in manilla in 75 , how frazier kept coming on round after round fighting at a suicidal pace in 110 degree heat and 90 percent humidity still amazes true fight fans . frazier makes anyones top ten heavys if your serious.

  4. absolutely, frazier is top 10 for sure. very few boxers might beat the best frazier 70-71
    prime ali, prime foreman.

joe louis, lewis and prime tyson would have 50% of chance, holmes and vitali would have 40%of chance.

Why do you always respond with this bull****?
truth is I forgot about Frazier but in my opinion Liston and Lewis would beat foreman, both being as strong but having ohter intangibles to beat Liston with
I don't think Frazier is above Liston or Tyson, but I do think he is above Dempsey
I don't see how jeffries can be above either of those
    Johnson is 11-12

:good could not agree more. peak for peak, frazier apears a natural top ten ATG but rating 30-40 of the best heavyweights in the last 100 years puts a whole lot of consideration into the mix. there is 20 fighters worthy of top ten but only 10 places.

the thread should be called "rate best 30 HW, THEN tell me where you put joe frazier?" I dont think you can rate one without rating all.

Had joe frazier retired when yank died (before fighting foreman) and hes top 7. joe did clean out a division but it took far too much out of him and his legacy suffered by fighting on.

It means frazier was stopped by both of the linear champs he faced- even if he beat one in his prime.

    01 - Muhammad Ali
    02 - Joe Louis
    03 - Lennox Lewis
    04 - Sonny Liston
    05 - Joe Frazier
    06 - Larry Holmes
    07 - Rocky Marciano
    08 - Mike Tyson
    09 - Jim Jeffries
    10 - George Foreman
    11 - Evander Holyfield
    12 - Jack Johnson
    13 - Harry Wills
    14 - Jack Dempsey

And I think these are the 14 great HW's. After this it gets much, much softer. You could add Jackson, Walcott, Patterson, Charles, Tunney...

  8. well then your opinion is just bull****, foreman would ko liston and lewis.
and frazier would beat liston any day of the week.
you have nothing to say liston is top 10 hw. except your imagination.
frazier did beat 29 years old undefeated muhammad ali, he gave wars to ali, he did beat chuvalo,bonavena,quarry,ellis...

sonny liston did beat patterson and cleveland willliams, end of the history.
mike tyson just did face 2 great hws, holyfield and lewis(and he lost).he avoided old foreman and (larry holmes was a joke in 1988, tyson or liston are above frazier basing on? your imagination?. no even in dreams tyson or much less liston is above frazier.

  9. i agree absolutely, to say liston is top 5 is simply pathetic.
and just anyone who know **** on boxing would put tyson above foreman, frazier or holyfield.
funny because evander destroyed tyson twice and he had x4 better career. and evander is the only 4 times hw champ.
frazier might not be never above foreman simply because joe never won even 1 fight against him, and foreman had better career too.

    It's an opinion.

  11. not, it is a fact... frazier, foreman, louis, holmes, ali, jonhson, marciano, holyfield, lewis, jefries, dempsey. all them had more merits and better legacy than liston.

Why do you act like this is a fact or something? He might KO Liston or Lewis, I don't know and you don't know. I just tend to pick Liston and Lewis because they have both shown good durability and power. on top of this they have also shown good boxing skill and great jabs.

I tend to think Frazier gets blown away by Liston based on Liston being such a hard puncher/ good finisher, his jab, strength, and boxing ability. Liston would also take frazier's shots, whereas i don't think Frazier could. Frazier got stunned by quarry, floored by bonavena twice, and bounced like a goddamn basketball against Foreman.

I think Frazier gets taken apart by Liston. Liston is a bad style matchup IMO.

Liston does have a claim for a top 10 ATG, like I said before you can't rank Liston high at all based on acomplishments, (although he does have some nice wins over whitehurst, machen, Williams, folley, and Patterson) but head to head he's got a good claim.

  13. tommy they never will fight, then we just can talk about their careers and liston is not top 10. if you think that liston would beat foreman and frazier.. fine.. i respect your opinion, according who would win i think that a prime foreman 72-74 would ko liston, holmes, lewis and louis. but they did never fight, so we can talk just about their careers. of course i think that a prime liston would beat several legends, but i think that frazier or foreman are not one of them

This is a decent argument. Combates needs to start realizing that the world doesn't necessarily turn on his beliefs. He is just one person, whose opinion matters no more than the next. In his case, less....

Yeah... He's not top 10 based on what he actually did. Fine. That's what head is for, I mean we have to rank that in somehow because otherwise heavyweights just wouldn't get a mention. The point is that Liston may not have acomplished all he could have, but that's just because the division wasn't completely stacked. he still beat good fighters.
Liston is still stylistically a bad fight for Frazier, Foreman I can understand but that's where we differ

And once again none of this **** is fact. we are on a goddamn boxing forum. We can talk about his career and he still has some good wins. He fought who he could have.
