Joe Frazier's resume is underrated

No, just name them. I would like to know what are your thoughts on this. I won't debate over each of your examples, I just want to see how do you value other wins compared to this one.

So the reason why Schmeling won is because he was the best fighter in the world, other than Louis then?

Fine I'll name a few:

Tyson v Douglas
Ali v Foreman
McCall v Lewis

Schmeling won because he exposed a loop hole in Louis's defense that hadn't been fixed. I give him tons of credit for it wasn't some worship-wrothy win that nobody could ever replicate. You could place several fighters from history in there and I'd expect a similar result.

@richard Murrieta ....wow Frazier v either Shavers or Lyle.....we constantly pit different eras...the 1970s alone...has fantasy fights ..Frazier v those 2 plus norton,cooney and holmes....id like to see Patterson too...wow.

 

I can see Tyson vs Douglas, but Foreman wasn't as good as Louis and he wasn't more proven than Louis, despite being a champion. McCall vs Lewis was a lucky punch type of win and Lewis wasn't anywhere close to his best then, much further than Louis was to his best.

This is not dozen.

 

Foreman buried Frazier, Norton, and Chuvalo. Those 3 are better than who Louis had beaten prior to Schmeling.

Lewis was absolutely at his best. He was 29 years old! Had been pro for 5 years. As Manny Steward said 'It was no lucky punch. It was well planned."

 

Louis beat Baer, Carnera, Uzcudun, Retzlaff and Ramage. It's at least arguable who was more proven.

Anyway, my point is that you can argue a few wins over that one, but there's no way you'll find a dozen.

 

You could name Louis' entire resume and Norton and Frazier would be better wins than any on there.

 

I am going to join the echo-chamber...love Frazier! Wish we had him today. I think, despite the size difference, him and Fury would be a great fight.

Schmeling, Sharkey, Baer, Walcott.

 

Sharkey and Baer Honestly joke mentions,(despite baer could ko Norton cause stylistical motives but ken was better overall), he was clearly better than schmeling too, walcott and Norton are in the same class
