Bloody hell! Sad. Remember when he was seen as bees knees and highly respected. Trainer of the year wasn’t he? Few of his lads losing out to superior opponents in title shots made him a bit of a laughing stock on here. Said they just walked forward with high guard etc but in reality in many of them fights that may have been the best/only tactic that they had a chance with. Seems like he had everyone on Matchroom at one point. Hope he fights it as best he can.
Did this need to be made into a thread? bet all the idiots on here who said he 'shags dogs outside Tesco' feel pretty bad now and will be jumping on the sympathy bandwagon.
I've family that have had this, hope Joe gets the help and support he needs and that treatment goes well. I found this article with some quotes from him: I hadn't seen the news story so I was grateful to @ash234 for highlighting the news. Joe's a significant figure in British Boxing and I'm glad we have a space where we can add our best wishes to him at this time. To be honest I don't think it matters what they may or may not have said about him before. Let's park all that for the everyday knockabout threads where folk are as partisan and salty as they choose.
This is crazy I know 2 people who have being diagnosed with this in the last couple of months. Hope he comes through it
I ain't a fan of Gallagher always seems quite bitter towards past boxers he once trained or guys not involved with him. Wouldn't wish illness on anyone however.
Don't have to be a fan of anyone, and criticising someone for their job / professional life isn't uncalled for, everyone can be criticised for their work, i'm talking about people who were personal with the 'Tesco Joe' thing.
Jesus Christ. What a way to derail a respectful thread. I wouldn't have known until later unless this thread was made. Have a bit of ****ing respect!
Awful news and best wishes to Joe, family and friends in the fight ahead to overcome this nasty disease.
