I think the whole Wildcard thing is a bit overblown. I lived over there for a number of years and was at Wildcard 3-4 times a week. You did see some great sparring, but the place is so busy and there's so many distractions that fighters couldn't focus properly, I always felt. It's great as a change of scenery for British fighters to go out there for a few weeks now and then, but the days are gone when the States is where a fighter has to train in order to reach the elite level. There are some top notch trainers working in the UK now. The gap has definitely closed, I think.

Best sparring I ever saw at Wildcard involved James Toney. I watched him prepare for the Jirov and Holyfield fights in 2003. Easily the most skilled fighter I've ever seen anywhere. Superb.

    Think he did.
Sadly there's always an undercurrent of jealousy on here with people quick to criticise.
Good for change of scenery, and some quality training, he's got a very good stable at the minute, & they all seem to get on.
I'm a big fan of Quigg.

I like to hear his interviews,as he always sounds so enthusiastic.Had to laugh when he said Freddie Roach would take Kugan on the pads.Never.Bet theres top level pros that have not had that pleasure.A bit ambitious about young Liam with Alvarez.Strange thing is theres not much difference in their ages.Rabchenko, who he also mentioned, might be more realistic, though still a tough one.Good boxing family, though Callum as everybody says, may be the jewel in the crown.Hope he has a lot of fights this year.
