Just found this good interview with Manc trainer Joe Gallagher, on Boxing News website. http://www.boxingnewsonline.net/BN08/detail.asp?id=763 He'd had success recently with the Murray bros - John hammering Meager for the British lightweight title, Joe winning world ama bronze before going to Beijing & coming back empty handed. He makes an interesting case that the world ama achievers might go do better than the Olympians, as well (giving Haye/Froch & Audley/Khan as examples of how this generation may turn out). Agree? Disagree? Looks like he's still set on a John Murray-Thaxton fight for the British and Euro titles. What a fight/even that would be if Hennessy puts his two best lightweights together. Good to see Joe get some recognition. Apparently he doesn't like to talk about himself in interviews as all trainers are known only for the fighters they produce. Looks like he'll do well with the Murrays anyway.
