Herman is the one doing the holding and wrestling, Gans looks fairly modern especially in comparison to the fighters of his time. I love his jab and 1-2, not to mention the uppercut and feinting. He almost ****ing kills Herman at the end with a single shot. :tired
i am glad you enjoyed my video. Gans was very advanced for his time, his style is kinda like Joe Louis.
You can tell a lot of the time Herman is doing exactly what gans wants him to do. Has to be pretty demoralizing for the guy being manipulated. When Gans was asked how he blocked punches, he said it was like he could see the thoughts moving from a guys head towards his hands -- when those though got down to elbows, he'd reach out and grab them. The samurai Musashi Myamoto once said it's like your opponent is trying to say a word, and you silence him at the first syllable.
Yeah, I've heard that an opponent asked Gans how he did that in the ring and he laughed a little and then gave that explanation that you just mentioned. :think
