Agreed. I think people are being a little tough on Greene in this thread.

He pitched a virtual shutout on Saturday night.

Greene looks like he has good skills but he was fighting nothing more than a heavy bag the other night and it was disturbing how he couldn't or wouldn't put the poor ******* away before the 11th, he had him hurt in the first rd. Seems to have good hand speed, average power, can't rate his defence and movement because he didn't need either in that fight. I'd say he has good potential but his management needs to get him some better fights to learn from before he makes a step up.

    Huh?

His defense and movement were what stood out most about his performance Saturday night! They're his bread and butter--everything he does starts with his movement and defense.

I can only remember one or two instances during the fight where Greene was caught flush. Why? DEFENSE & MOVEMENT.

On the flipside, watching John Duddy get hit with monster shots flush on the chin, time and time again was a sad display.

If they fought next month, Greene would make Duddy look like an amateur.

I saw Greene on the ropes many times against a guy with no attack, great defence? By the middle rounds his hands were hanging by his waste and he dancing around a stationary target like an idiot, he had the ability to put that kid away in the 1st or 2nd, the fact that he didn't makes it a bad performance in my estimation.
Speaking of Duddy, he has no defence and was taking flush shots from a slow, ponderous boxer with no jab. We are in agreement on that.

Well, Greene isn't a KO artist, and I'm not sure what you were watching, but it seems to me we saw a different fight on Saturday.

Everything Greene did was predicated on his movement.

    Duddy is ****!

I never said Greene couldn't move or had no defence, I said he didn't need them in that fight, he wasn't under pressure once so he can dance around all night it still doesn't show me how effective his movement will be against a talented opponent. He's a good prospect it was just a bad choice of opponent. And he should've put him away early.

Well, I respectfully disagree with your assessment of the fight.

I think Greene did extremely well, and I believe he was in there with a tough opponent who showed up for more than just a payday.

Greene dropped him twice in the 2nd and twice more in the 4th, and one thing I like about Greene is since he isn't a KO artist, he remains patient and never tries to force things.

I view that as an asset.

I guess we'll have to wait and see how things unfold for him, but I like his potential--a lot.

And I maintain my belief that he would beat the **** out of Duddy.

After what Smichet did to Duddy, I wouldn't see how John could stop even one of Greene's punches from getting through. Duddy is tough so I can't see Greene knocking him out but it would probably be lopsided and stopped on cuts late.
How do you rate Lee BTW? I think he is a more rounded prospect than Greene but that would be a MW fight I would pay to see even now. And how is Greene being touted in the states? Are they making much noise about him like the Irish are doing with Lee?
