the tougher of these two and do they have equal chins?jack johnson told his cornermen after knocking grimm down several times that "he aint human"
If this is a toughness contest, than I would probably have to pick Joe Grimm based on what I've read about him. Although Lamatta was by far the better fighter, Grimm-a journeyman spent most of his career taking nothing but the most gruesome of beatings. Years ago in ring magazine, I read an article on Grimm, basically stating that he was a punching bag for men like Jack Johnson who floored him some 20 times. Again, Lamata was a world champ. and by far the better fighter, but Grimm took poundings from heavyweights that were legendary punishings....
Joe Grim, for starting out his career 0-75 and taking hellacious punishment, all the while forever chanting that "I am Joe Grim and I fear no man", before and after every fight he was in.
Grim fought mostly 6-rounders (he knew he wouldn't last longer), and was a specialist at surviving (holding, wrestling, and other dirty methods). On multiple occasions he was saved by the bell.
How so? Grimm has never fought someone like Robinson 6 times. That to me makes Lamotta tougher (how is that man still alive?!) although Grimm is the true punching bag.
true but i wouldnt say grimm had a better chin he was dropped probably and least over 50 times in his career
