The point of this thread is to show that Jeannette was never the standout challenger to Johnson ,and it has done that. Jeannette in fact never established ascendancy over McVey during Johnson's reign. Barely over Tony Ross two fights ,one win by dsq, one draw. Split wins with Light Heavy Jeff Clark, their other fight being a no contest.
Won and drew with 18-9-3 Jim Barry. Jeannette's resume during this 7 year period is good but that of another contender .

Foreman, was the Champion and undefeated when Ali fought him .

Frazier was either the champion or in the top 3 when he fought Ali and had only lost to Foreman/Ali.
After their first encounter Norton was top 2. Jeannette was not only never the number one challenger , he never proved he was the number 2.
as has been pointed out to you several times Smiths credentials as a challenger dissapeared rather rapidly , losing to Carpentier who dropped him a followed devastating ko loss to Langford put him out of the picture for good he had a good 1913 that's it,in June that year Johnson went into exile. Johnson's standout challenger was Langford, and his best year was probably 1912 ,after that he started to slip.

" No tendered champion avoided completion"??????
