Timing is everything, and as much as i am looking forward to this, the time is right for big Joe. Like you say he has a granite chin so he should be ok in this one. His style is somewhat deceiving as he looks like a plodder, but he just keeps on coming at you, a nightmare for anyone.
Is he? I am not sure that he is. He might be slightly, but it can't be by a lot. I agree with you on the Joyce Jennings bout. Joyce boxed like someone who knew they would get the decision if it was remotely close - and I thought it was very close. He didn't impress me there. In fact, i have underrated Joyce in terms of his potential and the Dubois bout, although not a masterclass, opened my eyes. I'm no expert but I would be a bit shocked if it went the distance. Takam is 40 and he might not be that motivated after a few rounds of his head being jabbed off.
the undercard being poor hasn’t helped. Also they talked up much better opponents for Joyce for this fight and delivered the 3rd option
Yeah, Joyce should have been fighting Uzyk this weekend but we all know what happened there. Still, looking forward to this fight, Joyce is genuinely likeable and a contender for anyone. Just hope he gets a chance at one of the top lads if he wins this.
I agree that Takam is past his best, but I feel that he has enough skills in there defensively to go deep. This will be a good workout for Joyce before he gets a title shot whether its a vacant one or if he gets AJ.
I like Joyce but he’s got 0 personality and he’s got a style which will trouble 90% of heavyweights but won’t be pleasing on the eyes to 90% of casuals. I think he stops Takam 6-9 rounds but I think it will be more down to sustained damage and a towel going in or ref stopping it than a 1 shot KO which is what heavyweight (casual) fans want.
The problem I have with Takam is that he has never beaten anybody, is boring to watch and by and large, sold on his physique. He's also overlisted in terms of height and he will look tiny in there next to Joyce. A boring bout but Joyce is quite an interesting boxer who does things his own way. My prediction is a stoppage. I'd be shocked with anything else.
The absence of Sky Sports News advertising is huge for many sporting events. Will be interesting to see if Sly Sports preview or provide updates on Shyte Camp next week.
I'm going for Joyce by stoppage within 8. One thing that could make it interesting is it looks like Takam has been practising the left to the body.
