The best Joyce can hope for is AJ to drop the WBO belt and than square off with Usyk. Otherwise Joyce is screwed - There is no point in fighting the Hucklebery Huck's of the world.
Agreed. The ideal situation if that doesn't happen is for his promotion to make a huge offer to fight one of the 'best of the rest' ie Whyte or Ruiz ideally. Chisora is a waste of time IMO as it wouldn't be competitive. I can't see them making a big enough offer for Whyte or Ruiz though so not really sure where that leaves JJ if Usyk is tied up.
JJ should pursue a rematch with DDD and if that fails pursue Pudding Whyte and Paint Dry Parker. Should all three fail then I hear Dull Boy Chisora is up for some more loot.
Joe has struggled badly for good opponents and faced this same dilemma long before the pandemic, the Dubois fight, or the possibility of facing Usyk for a vacant belt. He called out Dillian years ago, Chisora too- multiple times. Remember that awkward 'confrontation' they had ringside 3 years ago when David Haye was involved in Joe's career? Nothing came of any of that. Joe's team only reluctantly agreed to the Dubois fight as fight after fight fell threw (including 2 European title fights), realizing he basically had nowhere to go, and no other chance of earning any good money. Big risk for him as if he had lost at that at his age the rebuilding job would have been too big and taken too long. He then ended up getting a massively reduced purse too as the fight was intended to be a sold out PPV but instead obviously had no crowd and was on BT Sport so missed out on his big pay day through no fault of his own. If AJ doesn't vacate he won't get a shot until 2023 realistically. He's already lost a lot of his momentum off the Dubois win as we're already into June and he has no fight planned so probably going to struggle to get more than 1 fight this whole year? If I were in his position I would gamble again, and take any big fight that comes along. If AJ doesn't vacate he's in not in a good position at all and has nothing to lose- age, promoter who doesn't believe in him, very little profile, no title shot in sight...
