Fury rode a lot of the shots. It's what he does. It's hard to catch him clean. The big knockdown in round 12 of their first fight is a prime example. If Fury was stationary, he would not have gotten up from the knockdown. The straight right Wilder floored Fury with for the first knockdown in the third fight was a decent shot. Wilder was moving backwards, but then planted his feet to throw the right. Luckily for Fury he had his chin down and the shot caught him on the top of his head. It still had him wobbled, though, and he was floored again not long after he got up. I believe Wilder's power is genuine. He's just an incredibly limited fighter whose only really dangerous punch is the straight right. When do you see him land other shots regularly? All he really has is a half decent jab when he elects to throw it properly and a quick straight right that he often telegraphs.
I don’t see Joyce having an issue with Wilders power. He landed some clean shots on Fury. If Fury can take them Joyce most certainly can
I remember the vast majority of the brit forum picking Dubois to knock him out and the vast majority of the general public thinking he was a slow, plodding bum. How times change
Almost like the reverse Joshua in fact. But some of us, with eyes, and who don't follow spin, can actually see the truth.
The problem for me is that Joyce will take shots clean unlike Fury. He may even get caught walking on to one. Plus, even if he takes them early, how long can he keep that up? That's why I think Joyce needs to jump on Wilder early and back him up. Wilder can't really fight backing up or in close. Smother the lanky bugger and rough him up. Joyce needs to get him out of their as quick as he can, or at least tire him out to take some sting out of his shots.
You would still have to rank AJ above him based on what they've done, but if they fought Joyce would cause AJ to have a panic attack and stop him.
His chin is crazy though. Also he has a complete poker face his expression never changes from the second that bell rings
There's no question AJ has done more in boxing and has a much better résumé than Joyce. But if they got into the ring now I would definitely fancy Joyce to win
Sorry to press you @Mitch87 but what is your top 10 at the time of the first Wilder fight. March 2018.
