Promoters of Joe Joyce (1-0, 1 KO) want the boxer in the next 18 months to fight for the world heavyweight championship. The 32-year-old made his professional debut in October. Joyce is a silver Olympic medalist at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. The Englishman lost to Tony Yok, who recently also competed in the professional circle. - Joe was about to box in December, but the gala with him was canceled. His next fight will take place in February. He will also perform in March and May, explains Sam Jones, the boxing manager. - We want to lead Joe in the 18 months to fight for the world championship. He will not fight unnecessary fights. All his rivals will mean something and bring him closer to the championship opportunity, "says the boxer manager.
Joyce does have slow hands but he makes up for that through his power workrate and stamina He has far far far more experience than those two combined and he beats them both for now (imo)
Joyce as pro which is a different ball game no matter how much am experience one has. He's slow and robotic to boot .there's no way he would be favored over a guy like Gormon right now and even Duboi who also has little over THREE minutes under him..lol
I'd favour Joyce over Gorman right now, I'm not impressed by Gorman at all. Dubois is a different kettle of fish though. He's looked scary so far, that KO is his last fight was sickening and he probably has the best jab at heavyweight right now, I think he'd force Joyce onto the back foot where he'd struggle.
So what are you basing that on? Dubois and Gorman haven't been tested at all in pros. Ian lewison is a bigger test than they've had and that's just 1 pro fight. Joyce also had all his amateur and WSB fights, yes there are differences but don't act like amateur is a complete different sport
Sometimes it feels like every picture of Joe Joyce includes David Haye. Wouldn't be surprised if Joyce's boxrec profile pic looked like this: https://i.imgur.com/H2zVdla.png
Agree that JJ beats Gorman. Gorman is horrible IMO. However disagree on Dubois. Dubois looks as Chinny as.... He is your stereotypical chinny HW, who gets bounced around like a basketball when he faces his first test. JJ stops Dubois too. I favour Gorman over Dubois as well.
Were obviously seeing two different fighters then BC Gorman is faster, harder to hit, more experienced at the pro level and has more than enough power to hurt either of those guys. Duboi will only be favored over Gorman with no fewer than 10 fights under him, he looks better BC he's fought no one of worth yet. I'd favor Duboi over Joyce . Something tells me Joyce will need extra time to developed at pro level against these top guys . He's the guy who is going to rely on power first when he steps up and he's slow as hell.
