Joe Joyce vs 70s George Foreman

George Foreman was big against fighters from the 70's. He's small compared to Joyce.

AJ looks like a bloated roid monster when he gets to 250...now shrunk back to 240 which is what Joyce weighed 10 years ago & he looked skinny at that weight.

There is only one man who Fury checks under his bed at night for and that's Joe Joyce.

I suspect George would make fans think differently about Joyce's chin.

 

I fancy Foreman to explode that chin.

 

Obviously Joyce...because...in foreman's era, they were barely more technical then cavemen, and only ate garbage.

War and desolation. I reckon they turn the ring into a battlefield of ash and dust, which no puny outboxers would be able to energize for a long time after.

Foreman is smaller, but at the same time has that absolute ATG power, dominating jab, and contrary to popular belief good reflexes and decent speed: sufficient to sustain his very active long guard. Even at that age I see him as the better boxer (despite Joyce being an accomplished, clever fighter in his own right), but the crushing power is where I start to favor Foreman, Joe being a little bit too hittable, despite having a solid defense when he needs it.

Joyce's engine could be his triumph card, should he manage to endure Foreman's power and take it to the cards. If he takes some of the early rounds (I believe George would take the points early on given his jab, ever underrated defense, and faster hands), and George falls off as the championship rounds approach, he might start leading on the scorecards. Then again, Foreman never struggled stamina-wise bar the high humidity, high temperature arenas without modern tech.

Size is in Joyce's favor, but the reach difference is negligible. Should Joyce try to clash in an all-out war then we get a repeat of Foreman-Lyle with the stadium there to enjoy the fireworks. Whether Foreman's power would crack Joyce's chin --- who knows.

Joyce ain't fought a world level puncher yet, let alone an ATG puncher.
