Joyce, there are levels, he may have declined but he's far better than guys like Makhmudov, Vianello and Ajagba. Makhmudov is just as easy to hit, he has no jab at all, he has no inside game, he's too predictable with his attacks so he can't do what Chisora did by baiting Joyce and landing the right hand. Also how hard does Makhmudov really he hit, he never had Vianello in trouble, he couldn't stop an old Takam who has been stopped a bunch of times. His whole rep as a puncher came off stopping Wach who just got stopped in 2 rounds against Itauma.
Ancient Wach, who while had a great chin in his prime, even in his best years was very hittable. Guys like McCall, Mercer, old Foreman while weren't HW versions of Pernell Whitaker, actually had defense AND decent/good counterpunching abilities in addition to the chin. Wach didn't have any of that even in his prime, let alone at 42 when he fought Makhmudov. However, I think Makhmudov actually hits very, very hard but doesn't have any other attributes. Add here his one of the lowest IQ ever seen in boxing and you literally have unreachable one-trick pony. Joyce, of course, is levels above him and would KO him.
Yeah even in his prime Wach for me wasn't even a gatekeeper level fighter, his whole rep came from not being KOed by Wlad which while impressive doesn't tell us how good a fighter he really is. Yeah he was always hittable and was again even against Makhmudov's predictable attacks. He ate 9 clean shots off Makhmudov in the corner and still got up. Yeah in terms of ring IQ his is terrible and he's the definition of a one trick pony. If only he learned too have a jab that would have made the Vianello fight far more competitive. But instead he was just forced to plough forward and eat shot after shot and totally unable to compete because he doesn't know how to use his size and reach.
Makhmudov got awful defence. Not chance he win this. He is like Kudryashow. They got 9 and Dimitry even 10,5 in 10 scale offense power but defence is 1 or 2. U cant fight like that on higher level.
Joyce is still gatekeeper level. Makhmudov never was. This would look like Joyce-Dubois - Makh would just get jabbed off and not have a clue how to break it.
Yeah exactly. While Joyce is still easy to hit, even he can avoid the right hands of Makhmudov enough not to get KO'd. Zhang is sneaky with his counters, Chisora again is sneaky with his counter OH right. Makhmudov is neither sneaky or a counter puncher. He's too predictable to beat Joyce, even this faded version of Joyce.
Very close fight and Joe didn’t deserve to lose. I thought he nicked it, not a huge robbery but not a fair reflection. Dell boy did beat Whyte in 1st and was winning 2nd until the hail mary
