Joyce looked great in his first pro fight. People comparing this to Daniel Dubois need to realise Dubois is fighting the worst fighters Warren can get his hands on like 99.9% of other pros that start out. Joyce had already leap frogged Dubois is his first pro fight. Well done and keep up the great work Joyce.
Joyce didn’t impress me. But as said I can’t recall anyone ever having a tougher pro debut? Joyce will only get better. The only problem is where does he go now after a fight with Lewinson? Sexton? Allen/Thomas? Chisora?
I thought he looked pretty good in his debut. For a debut opponent Lewison is very good and Joyce handled him very well, much better than Whyte did and won every round. I'm not sure how far he'll go. Most think he won't make it to the top as he's already 32, he can be a bit slow at times and is somewhat robotic but his combination of attributes like size, physical strength and power along with stamina is a rather unusual one in this division. He could wear a lot of decent fighters down with his pressure. He has decent fundamentals like a good jab and seems to have good ring awareness as well. This makes it difficult to guess what his limit is. No matter how far he goes as a pro I think it will be an exciting career. At least he's fighting decent fighters from the start.
He didn't look bad, but the thing is, he needs more seasoning, and at his pace won't get it. He is a little slow, very heavy handed, and not much on defense. But at least he showed he could go 8 rounds, and end it.
going with the eye test... If Joe Joyce is being fast tracked, what if he fought David Price next or Allen? then next step..Chisora..
Being garbage and not wanting to watch him are two different things. I hated watching Mayweather, because he was the best defensive boxer in the business. I love watching David Price, because he gasses during his ringwalk.
