Joyce has a better chin than Berbick had.

Let's put this into perspective.....How long would Parker last against a Prime Tyson....Or Bryant Jennings against Prime Mike....For God sake it is almost Laughable.!!!

No one knows for sure, styles make fights and eras are rarely comparable for all sorts of reasons. Mike was the better fighter though, would pick '86 Mike, probably on points.

You are right. Ok....Tyson would ktfo Joyce in the ......uh....7th round. just think he is to slow and Mike was too fast and had more power. Joyce is going to give any one a problem though. and this is one of those fantasy match ups that...unfortunately...we will never know the answer to.

Prime Tyson is a nightmare for any heavyweight to have ever lived. Too much movement and speedy combinations with real venom thrown into each shot. I'd pick Tyson to win on points or late KO.

I dont think either guy could stop the other. If it goes the distance I think Tysons speed and evasiveness would get him the decision.

Its a weird fight stylistically though. Mike vs Fury or Wilder would be too.

Mike was a force of nature and I'm a big fan but let's be honest here guys he was getting getting knocked out by the likes of Kevin McBride and Danny Williams when he was slightly older than Big Joe is now and out of all Mike's victims I don't see anyone wouldn't succumb to Joe's pressure and slow-fast speed.

Mike's form up at Brit Level

Stopped by Lewis, Williams, McBride (Brits and Irish are very similar so we can count McBride as Brit level too)

Beat Bruno x 2 albeit Bruno hurt him, beat Julius Francis

Bruno is a poor man's Big Joe minus the titanium chin, engine, and elite level slow-fast speed

Francis had run a gauntlet of three Brit Level fighters back-to-back going into the Mike fight and he'd been knocked out by Vitali in his fight before going on it, and two of those fights went the full rounds distance. That would've taken a lot out of Francis, a lot out of any fighter for that matter. Case in point: Mike retired for good the only time he fought Brit Level fighters in back-to-back fights.

Big Joe is just too big, tough, powerful, fit, relentless, and mentally and physically strong for Mike.

It was never about age with Mike. Boxing is an unforgiving sport but none the less Mike was mentally done in 1990. Prime Mike would've beaten anyone.

I don't buy into any of that

You are indeed correct about boxing being unforgiving

But nothing is more unforgiving than the truth

Big Joe is all wrong for Mike and I see the later getting worn down and stopped by Big Joe's size, relentless pressure, power and slow-fast speed

Either that or he gets himself DQ'd out of frustration at his slow-fast speed and not being able to put a dent in Joe

Maybe...I really like both guys. I just think Mike was an all or nothing kinda guy, he went from brilliant to average very quickly, and I feel when he was brilliant, he was unstoppable. Just seems a shame he gets judged on the average side of his career rather than the brilliant side. I am pretty sure Mike in 1986 would've beaten anyone. It would probably go to points though with Joyce.

He was a monster in his prime and capable of beating anyone at his best. But as said, I feel Big Joe is just too big, tough, fit and just all wrong for him

Possibly, we will never know I suppose. I am the biggest Joyce fan going though, have been singing his praises for many years. He has so much going for him yet he gets consistently written off by casuals. I've earned nice money betting on him over the years, that will no doubt come to an end now that he has proved himself on the big stage.

Me too. Big Joe is far too sophisticated and deceptive to comprehend for casual eyes but he keeps proving the doubters wrong every step of the way. Some of them are finally coming around but they will not be welcomed with open arms by yours truly because it's going to take time for me to forgive them.

I know what you mean...I still remember all my mates looking at me in disbelief when they all came to watch Dubois demolish this 'slow bum'. Joyce has something very special, as you said most eyes cannot see it. He appears to be made of titanium, intelligent, timing impeccable, chin like no other. I don't even think he's that slow, if he is he makes up for it with accuracy and endurance. Look at him in his corner in the midst of all his so called 'battles'. He looks like an old man reading the newspaper. Very likeable guy too and not a bad bone in his body.
