Joyce hasn't fought anyone near the level of some of the guys Foreman fought. Let's revisit this after Joyce has fought a few top ten heavyweights. As of right now I'm finding it hard to believe that Joyce would be able to withstand the pain Foreman would bring.
To be fair Gil Clancy trained Foreman would only take more time to finish Joyce because he insisted on slower pace, boxing-orientated game plan. That and Joyce can take a punch. Foreman of the Norton fight, an absolute peak performance of his pre-Zaire career in my opinion, would likely demolish Joe.
I actually see this being similar to Foreman's fight with Chuvalo. Of course Joyce is bigger, stronger & a better technician, but his style is somewhat similar to Chuvalo - a strong, durable limited brawler with solid punching power. Foreman wasn't able to physically dominate or manhandle Chuvalo, and had to use footwork, angles, feints & constant repositioning to stop neutralise Chuvalo's attack to launch his own. That's how I see him fighting Joyce - as Joyce is significantly bigger & physically stronger than Chuvalo, and as Foreman couldn't manhandle Chuvalo, he won't be able to do so to Joyce either. That'll be fine for Foreman, as all he'll need to do is use more of his hidden boxing skills, footwork & repositioning tactics to neutralise & then stop a durable Joyce.
Seriously? We're comparing an ATG heavyweight with devastating power with largely unproven Joyce? I like Joyce don't get me wrong, would love to see him against the top guys today, but come on..
Joyce can’t rely on his chin here. Was also badly hurt to body by an average Bryant Jennings, what effect is Foreman’s shots gonna have when they inevitably connect?
